i feel that this officer was truely in the wrong in shooting this man 3 times, but why 3 times. what happened to the thought of just stopping him if that is what was needed to be done. this could be done clearly be wounding him in the leg, and putting him down. Surely if this officer had this many years experience on the force, aim shouldn't be the issue. This officer made the wrong decision this time.

You people that are un-educated in the ways of police training and are not in law enforcement make a fool of yourselves when you make statements like the ones that i see on this web site. i would never pretend to know someone else's job that I had never done. Alot of people believe they know how to do a law enforcement officer's job better that the officer. No law enforcement officer wants to kill anyone, but sometimes it is part of the job. Deputy Maynard is a good man and an excellent law enforcement officer.

iI want to think that MOST law enforcement officers don't want to kill. It is a dangerous job and I appreciate the honest men and women who bravely protect us. But I know for a fact their are a few who only take the job to legally have a right to kill. They are the minority, but it is foolish to pretend they don't exist. This officer may not be one of them. I don't know him or his history. I DO know two in Oceana, WV (young) who used the badge to legally murder an unarmed high school rival. The two officers kept their jobs, the City paid the victim's mentally impaired parents well after the civil suit, but Steven Rollins remains dead after several rounfs of fire hit into his back and the back of his head while in the passanger seat of a parked car. Eventually, one of the officers brutalized someone else and was fired. but they both remain alive and free. Each case needs to be investigated if in doubt. Oceana, WV is a small town and Steven Rollins was only a poor young man, so it mattered little to anyone except family and friends. But he was still murdered and God won't mind that he was poor on judgement day. We will all be judged equally then, but not until then. So I hope this officer did the right thing. If not, I'm sure it will only be judged properly on judgement day.
