So, after we allow ex-cons to pick the judges what's next,,,,,do we allow the inmates to pick the wardens,,, maybe training for corrections officers should be under the care and control of the inmates also. Then we wonder why the judicial system is in a shambles.

I'm glad the "former" inmate has brought this to the publics attention. It is interesting to read about his ("former" inmate) credentials, it impressed me at least.
It would seem ridiculous for the former Executive to receive the position of Judge- Selling his shares of stock seems like an after thought to fix a pr problem.

The judicial system is in a shamble, because people are sheeple, if there is nothing better than a corrupt good-ol-boy system in place, they still vote for the same old, same old which they complain about plenty afterwards. Instead of getting their behind out of their lazy-boy and make use of their constitutional rights to speak out.

Heard part of this on NPR and found article on the WWW. The main opposition stems from a former executive of the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA)(a private criminal corrections company) to get a Federal Judge position because: 1) The position is in the same district as the headquarters of the CCA, 2) death of inmate Estelle Robinson, ruled a homicide, shortly after or during solitary confinement. Five guards were indicted and the charges later dropped. 3) This nominee is a Bush administration insider, clearly polictical favoritism. 4) The nominee has little experience as a trial lawyer, let alone a Judge.
Because of the conflict of interest and other considerations, this is a very poor choice for a Federal Judge and the nomination should be blocked
