Board of Education Election

We have this candidate for the Board of Education Carlo Santulli who's claim to fame is that he was the Senior Class President at CHS. What he DIDN'T claim was that he dropped out after serving only 2 months (this was way back in 2005). If he couldn't handle the job of Sr Class President, how would he be able to put up with the pressures of being a Board member? There's too much at stake than to have this inexperienced bozo who can't take the heat in office. He already lied to us about his last political office.

It doesn't seem that he's qualified and is a quitter.

Since when did qualifications ever matter in a school board election? It's a stepping stone for the next level and besides, you can dish out jobs with nice salaries to your family and friends. A big budget that never has enough money and foolish taxpayers seem to enjoy paying despite the lousy education their kids get. Senior class president is just a popularity contest. Your first conditioning in the election process. That's why we end up with the jerks elected and the wheels falling off the wagon. If more people took politics more seriously, this country would be in much better shape.

Is this kid from Garfield? If he is he should run after he is Italian and everybody knows that all Italians are Honest nad Sincere.Give him a chance that was four years ago and he did victor MATURE.

Hello again Baltimore, MD.....And Old School you hit it right on the 'head'. The Board Of Ed in Garfield is a joke just like their Schools/Education has been lately. Even the teachers WALK OUT. But the absolute worst thing is that they are an Abbott district and because of it - Garfield was given extra money for education. And once again the Students were not up to par on their state tests. What our Gov. Corzine should do (it has been on 101.5 radio talk shows) is if any city who receives extra money for the education of their children and the teachers are unable to or can't or maybe don't know how to bring their students up the 'par'(New jersey's average) the money should be taken away and given to districts who believe in a good education. Or maybe Corzine should have his staff step in and help control where the money and everything else goes...That town is Amazing isn't it.....Actually Amusing. Oh my!!!!Once again my 1st 2 #s are 33.....Devine.....

moved, you hit it on the button. Abbott funding is a joke, another Socialist tool to control our education. The money the State spends on these districts is a waste of our (taxpayer) money. Pouring money into these districts has not accomplished a thing. The students still score low, and the drop out rates in some of these districts still high, compared to non Abbott districts. The teachers in these Abbott districts make more money, way too much,considering what they're NOT accomplishing (except to cash their paychecks, haha). Yep, some of these teachers earn a 6-figure income. Yet, they complain they're underpaid.

Let me just say that we have alot of wonderful teacher's in Garfield, that do it for the love of the job and not just a pay check as some of you feel, this just shows how miss informed you people really are. But then again there are some out there that just like to put Garfield down no matter what it is about, those same people probally lived here and took advandage of what they could get out of it at the time. Just because we are an Abbott District does not mean that our children don't deserve an education. GET A GRIP if that is what you think. Why don't you people worry about your own districts? We all should want the best for our children whereever they live. WHY SO BITTER ABOUT GARFIELD?

teachers are paid way too much for only 40 weeks of work. I know people who graduate from college and must work 50 weeks a year and make 40% than a teacher who is home by 4 pm.

caregiving...There isn't anyone person on this blog who is as you say 'bitter about Garfield'. We are just stating the facts. "GET A GRIP'...I agree that a grip should be taken on Garfield's education. Nobody said that we shouldn't educate Garfield's children. But it is a known fact that they have received extra money for educating the children being an Abbott district. And the children (who are suffering because of it) their education fell below par. Now that is a shame. The state of New Jersey needs to send someone in their who can straighten their education system out before more of the state's tax-payers have to support a BELOW PAR SYSTEM. Yes, I am sure their are a few outstanding teachers in any school district.....some more than others.

I just wanted to bring this out in the light. Garfield? What has Garfield got to do with all this? This is supposed to be a Clifton place. There are currently 3 other candidates running on a slate, and they are way more qualified to run for Bd of Ed

Hooray for Christie to stand up to a Public Employees Union that nhas helped to make us the highest property tax Sate in the nation. Enough is Enough!

Unions just don't get it. The State is broke. It's time for some payment toward benefits for all employees just like the private sector. And next nation wide salary levels for all public employees. Compare NJ with NY or PA and you'll be in shock. If they make that a number one issue it will backfire because the general public is outraged by Public Employyes Salaries and Benefits.

What we DON'T need is another 4 years of Corzine. He is an utter failure.

Another 8 years of Corzine would be much better.
