I know the Mayor, that is not true.

A friend of mine called the police one night to report several cars parked overnight close to the apartment complex he lived in. None of them had stickers and most likely didn't live in town. The person at the desk told him, "Oh we're not checking that part of town tonight." You would think the whole city was being patrolled. Several years ago while in court with a friend on minor traffic violation, I witnessed the former judge let 5 people go without fines for illegally parking overnight.
So what good is having parking stickers and not enforcing the law? Opps I forgot, GARFIELD. The question now is, who will replace MS Raymond when the city council needs to be taken to the woodshed? Same old, same old. The only change will be what's left in the taxpayers pockets after they get hit with higher property tax bills needed to support the influx of new students from all the new housing units built on the old GSP site. I wish the new council the best, they will need it. |

Old School, there are reasons why the whole City is not checked for parking sticker violations and there is also a reason that the vehicles could not be checked on. As far as the City being Patroled, I think it is unfair to say that it isn't being patrolled because "parking Stickers" weren't checked.

The town is less than 2 1/2 square miles. I lived there long enough to know how & why things don't get done. The police were asked to check the area and failed to do so. If that's the security you pay for as a taxpayer, you're being ripped off. There is so little street parking to begin with. If your comfortable living there, God bless you, enjoy it because it will never get much better. If there isn't any effort to enforce the law, then why bother with a parking sticker program? I doubt you can seriously give me an honest answer?

There is a new chief and more enforcement. A NEW JUDGE ALSO.

I feel safer already.. LOL What happened to the old judge?

For the record, I fully support the new chief of police. He was always a top notch cop and should have got that job a long time ago, but politics sometimes gets in the way of common sense and progress. Hopefully the new judge is clean and honorable this time.

I was told the same thing. I was staying at a friend of mine and called the police to say that I would be staying at a certain address and the police told me the same thing.

Thank you for the confirmation Mike V.
Why do you think certain areas are exempt from the law? I bet you could always find a cop at one of the three Dunkin Donut locations. It just don't make too much sense, but then again what really does? |

Sounds very INTERESTING- as many people are INTERESTED in many ways for many various reasons. Maybe they should worry about the BAD KARMA on 'theirs' before the city's. JUDGE??? JUDGE NOT??? Here comes/goes the JUDGE. Typical Garfield. People move there knowing about the parking problems. That is their choice. Some do it for the free baby sitting services thanks to MR ABBOTT and others for their own personal reasons and others are there because of certain situations they are not able to move out of 'town' or where-ever/what-ever.(WOW--my favorite #3 again in the image # along with a 6 & also a [triple 3] there's a 9) Amazing.....

Old School, I don't know what part of Garfield you lived in or live in and I don't know where you get your information from, but judging from your previous comments, you are not well informed on how the parking sticker is enforced or why it was implemented to begin with. As far as your opinion on the new Police Chief, you are entitled to it and by no means am I disagreeing with you. I do disagree that he should have gotten the job a long time ago. He became chief of Police when it was his turn and I don't think he should have passed up a senior captain or the previous deputy chief. By the way, all my answers are serious and everything I say is backed up by fact.

Garfield for life, the city of Garfield is about 2.10 square miles. It don't matter what part you live in. You are affected by what happens politically or otherwise. I'm very informed why the sticker program was implemented. It was to curb illegal apartments. Didn't work too well did it?
Like you said about the chief, it wasn't his turn to get the job. That's poor politics at any rate. Just so another officer can beef up his pension at taxpayers expense of course. Everything I say is backed up by fact and many years living there. I saw how bad it got due to it's lack of leadership. I still visit friends and they tell me the same things are still going on. My only question to them is why do you stay? You have my sympathy for what you have to deal with. I don't think we're so far apart in our opinions or feelings. Good luck with the new addition to the city council, police chief and judge. |

Pizza man Do you deliver? Obviously you have little to add to the discussion board.

Pizza Pizza time to stop in at Roses. I agree with Old School that the best man/woman for the job should be in...not the next in line. That is how it works in the 'real' working world. Personally I think the last chiefs did a good job considering what they had to work with and who they had to work with. Making sure you have a stable income is 99 percent of it.

Then you know what creep he is. He wasn't even ELECTED Mayor.Half the people that work for the DPW, Board of Ed, Water Dept. Parks Dept, ETC not to mention Passaic Valley Water Commission where our good ol' mayor is a commissioner are either related to or are a friend or a friend of a friend to him. Poor Kroney lost his job at PVWC because he couldn't keep it in his pants. It's a shame good men like Lou Aloia and Joe Delaney stick together with those clowns. They are better than that. |

Wow and some people think I'm too harsh! LOL
You do make a few valid points Mr. Mojorisin. Let's just hope the council will recognize the needs of the town for a change and set it on a better path than it's been on for the past 20 years. You can't keep taking without putting something back. Lou & Joe should have run separate but maybe they will form an alliance with Tana. This might turn out to be very interesting. |

Lou and Joe against Frank? Are we forgetting where Joe works?

Point well taken Garfield for life... But stranger things have been known to happen. Let's just hope it's for the people of Garfield get something positive, not just a select few who take care of themselves first.
