How about the schools just teach our kids facts and stick to teaching algebra and leave the moral raising of my child to me. I didn't want my kids learning about drugs in the 4th grade either but they came home knowing more about drugs than I did. Schools need to stick to teaching and stop trying to raise our children for us.
Do you include God and prayer in your condemnation of things better left at home rather than taught at school, or do you hypocritically lament "taking God out of school?"

Thank you Puff, that brought a smile to my face that you did as I asked. Today is looking brighter already because of it, I'm sure.:)

You want to see real "socialism"? Want to see what a country that is actually seeking to advance itself and the situation of its poorest citizens looks like?

France has a new president.

With 51.9% of the second-round vote, François Hollande has beaten Nicolas Sarkozy to become the first Socialist president of France since 1995. In his victory speech, Hollande declared that "austerity is not inevitable," but international business interests have already started rumbling about Hollande's plans for higher taxes on the rich and large-scale public sector investment. The change in power is to be effected in next ten days, with Hollande scheduled to appear at the G8 and NATO summits on May 19 and 20.

The self-styled "Mr Normal", who has promised to scale down the trappings of the presidency, will begin with the symbolic measure of cutting his own presidential salary by 30%, and that of his ministers. He will immediately issue a series of decrees to ease the French electorate's concerns about their finances, including a three-month freeze on fuel prices and a rise in allowances for parents.

Key first moves in an extraordinary summer session of parliament will be to alter the French tax system, dismantling tax breaks for the rich and pushing up taxes for the wealthy. This is one of the cornerstones of Hollande's manifesto, which he says would pump money into what he calls necessary spending on France's under-performing schools.

He will also quickly write into law a 75% tax on annual income above one million euros.

Another immediate measure to crack down on fat cat pay will be the fixing of a maximum salary in public companies. The top-paid executives in state companies will be barred from making more than 20 times the lowest-paid employee's salary.

So think of this the next time you're about to call center-right corporatist Barack Obama a "socialist".

I found drink better than mint julep and paid bartender for recipe for you. It is called: "Peach Prosecco"
1 ounce vodka
1 ounce peach liqueur
1 ounce Prosecco
1/2 ounce lemon juice
1/2 ounce peach nectar
2 dashes Fee Brothers peach bitters (optional)
In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, peach liqueur, Prosecco, lemon juice, peach nectar, and bitters, if using. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously until completely mixed, about 20 seconds. Strain into a chilled champagne coupe and garnish with a peach wedge.
I hope you like.
Awww...Puff, I've never been much of a drinker of alcohol, just didn't care for the taste, if I could taste the liquor. Mostly just indulged at Social Functions. But I will keep this recipe & I will try it , at some point in time, I promise.:)

You got me thinking. How about, if the majority of the debt should belong to Congress, why not make it really belong to them. No one in Congress gets paid unless we have a balanced financial situation where the country is firmly in the black. And by not paid, I mean no pay, no health care, no retirement, no expenses, etc.

You are correct. Although not final but oui, it looks like France has new president. In truth, almost all vineyard farmers wanted Sarkozy out. He has been in office for almost two decades. He earns
21 194.52 euros/month and to me, way too much. That is more than Prime Minister of France whom in truth runs the country.
While the president has to sign all acts adopted by parliament into law, he cannot refuse to do so and exercise a kind of right of veto; his only power in that matter is to ask for a single reconsideration of the law by parliament and this power is subject to countersigning by the Prime minister. Monsieur François Hollande
received puff and mari votes.

Telling the truth, Drex, is NOT whining! And that is the truth!
Bush didn't start it, but he finished it up in Grand Fashion! Actually, it was Cheney, Bush was too dumb to do it all, himself. He just signed off on what he, Cheney, & all the rich, powerful Republicans have been working on since the 80's! That's why we are where we are, today...with Obama trying to "mop up" the mess!

Here is some more luggage brain ... puff is open to debate with "poof"
Many people here in USA are highly misinformed. For CNN, Fox and MSNBC are the same in intentions. They allot mostly what they feel their viewers want and what they are told to report. Same as with all the tabloids. It is all about ratings and money for USA. For different in their audiences, in truth no different in their reporting. My mari was archealogist and I have traveled the world (not just France) and have seen before my very eyes true enlightenment and what is provided to Americans.
I have witnessed false reporting customized to the audiences it is directed to. The exact same story but with several entirely different words in meaning.
Do you honestly think Bin Laden could in truth orchestrated such a genious plan? All by himself? The USA Pentagon in truth admits that there is no true evidence that he is actually in truth dead.
In response to the request for visual evidence of Bin Laden’s death, the Pentagon stated that it could not find any pictures or video footage of the raid itself or of Bin Laden’s dead body. It also told AP it could not locate any images of Bin Laden’s body that were taken on the U.S.S. Carl Vinson, the Navy aircraft carrier that reportedly lowered him into the sea after his death.
In addition, the Pentagon admitted that it could not find an autopsy report, death certificate or results of a DNA identification test for Bin Laden, in spite of claims made by your President Obama and reported by CBs News that a DNA test was performed. All proproganda to please the American audiences.

Israel is a Nation of Religion. Oldest nation of religion.
USA doesn't carry like cultures and changed religion. Israel will do as always when their Religion is challenged and is ignored .. Why you think European Nations not disagree with Israel Nation?
For those that disbelief, read real history books about Israel. Now You have reason as promised above.
Fortunately for USA ..
Obama with his diverse backgrounds has enlightenment to what Bush did not. Today, the story of the missing nuclear weapons, based on Israel’s frantic efforts to push the United States into an attack on Iran and my evidence of Israeli involvement in the execution of both 9/11 and 7/7, has given me reason to fear that Israel may be planning a nuclear terror attack on the United States.” And is then followed by indications that “Many, more in the mainstream media than anyone would guess, have come to discover Israeli complicity in 9/11.”
And yet, when and if this happens, the USA headline will still read: IRAN HITS U.S. WITH A NUCLEAR SUCKER PUNCH! The alleged threat by Iran’s leadership to “wipe Israel off the map” will be a “clear example of misdirection” so that rascally rabbit Iran could hit usA. American intelligence is flawed in all ways in comparision to foreign intelligence. Iran not capable to preform such actions.
France has no beef with USA. But many other Nations do, and many Nations have became so with much false enlightenement shed onto them from Israel.
This posting is puff's opinion based on puff's logic of enlightenments known. Can debate be found with puff's posting from Poof?
And nothing that has been shed to date on thread thus far can. Fox or MSNBC propraganda cannot. For puff has already enlightened the thread to them claimed sources.
Many have drawn the conclusion that puff is not intelligent. Which is by far very much false. Many have drawn the conclusion that puff hates USA. That in truth is false. Many here think they are just as enlightened to the world outside the USA around them as puff which is also false.
Now you know the real puff. I carry the friendly attitude, but in truth, puff is far above most Americans in logic enlightenments outside the USA.
Thank you for your time.
Puff, if Bin Laden wasn't killed & buried at sea, then where do you think he is?

I do not know that Sassy. He carry high royalty bloodline. He could be among his own nation. The desert lands are vast and the people still carry much respect to royalty. King Abdullah gained ascension to throne when King Fahd passed. King Abdullah only half bloodline.
There are over 600 royalty in Bin Laden bloodline. Very wealthy.
They can make anything they want happen. King Abdullah oil King he control oil.
Bin Laden family also have much ties in Jerusalem. King Hussein of Jordan was school friend in Egypt College. King Abdullah help Pakistan. Some say he already died of bad cancer. Syrian group like bin laden family.
Many believe USA Navy Seals did execute and American Government hide information. But that all just puff speculation. No logic to make truth on whereabouts. USA never proved to world. They did tell to world.

the right wingers who post here have no idea of the full width of the political spectrum.

they tend to think of the world in black and white terms.

it is them against the rest of us, who are commo-facsists!!

france's new president, may give some of them another perspective.

I think the Saudi Royal Family kicked Bin Laden out, though, for opposing them for being "friendly" with the American "Infidels" & Bin Laden went to Yemen, then later, to Afghanistan. Bin Laden's Father built most of Saudi Arabia, he was a Building Contractor...after the Americans helped the Saudis cultivate their Oil Supply. Bin Laden's Father was extremely wealthy, but Bin Laden blew a bunch of his inheritance in Yemen, buying the Leaders to let him stay there & form Al Qaeda. Then, he blew the rest of it, for the most part, doing the same thing in Afghanistan & Pakistan. Supposedly, he is not welcome back in Saudi Arabia, but they refused to help capture or kill him, because of his Family Connections to the Royal Family.
The Military & the U.S. Gov't. has started releassing some of Bin Laden's Papers, Journals, & Notes. I've been reading them last week in Articles & I think I posted the Links to some of them. I figure it's because of the anniversary of his death & I do believe the SEALS took the Basta*d out, just like they said. I believe he's dead Fish Food & I could not be happier about it! Sorry, but I do believe that! When things coll down in the Middle East, if they ever do, I think we will see all that evidence of his death & at-sea burial that we've been told about. It's not wise to do it now, it would only incite his Followers even more, at this time. But, someday....
