Lake County investigating abuse allegations at Green Isle Children's Ranch

Please do not judge the staff until the full report comes out. I have dropped by at lunchtime for a visit and eaten the food on multiple occasions and experienced no problems. The thrift store is not open enough hours each week to result in “unreasonable hours.” I have not seen any signs of fighting either.

You obviously do not know what you are talking about. I have first hand seen what has happened. There are photographs and testimony for the children. Staff is covering up to hide their lies. You should wait... wait and see how they are arrested!

I have personally been visiting the ranch over the past 4 years at least once a month. From my perspective I found no foul play going on at the ranch. During my visits I see the condition of the kitchen and food pantry, and it is above par to many of the restaurants that you might dine in. The dorm rooms are always kept tidy and clean.

I have personally seen the interaction between, house parents and the children, children and teachers, children and counselors, and children and children.

It is a charity to provide the discipline and structure. Each child that attends this type of facility has some emotional and physiological baggage. To think that there would not be issues when you have many dysfunctional adolescent boys in a controlled environment would be naive.

It is a positive atmosphere to work in the child’s life to show him that there are consequences and rewards in life. Their system does not focus on just discipline but is rewards motivated. The children are encouraged to progress through the program.

I never once in any of my visits witnessed any type of abuse, fighting, or the encouragement of fighting. I have personally talked with children and encouraged them to make right decisions for their betterment.

This organization is totally ministry focused, and has a desire to spread Christ's love.

There are always three sides to every story, the accusers, the accused, and the truth.

May God open your mind to discern the truth.

to concern citizen: everything does look right when people are visiting it is when no one is visiting that things go on, and pictures do not lie and maybe you need to see the pictures to believe and see the truth and you will change your mind and know that god want someone to come out with the truth. the houseparents are wonderful people it was the people that ran the place that are not Christian and like i said there are pictures to prove everything that is being said and yes the boys do have problems and they are sent to get special help not to be to advantage of and the parents took advantage of also so maybe you need to get in touch with some of the parents which are alot of them and talk with them and get there side also and if you want the hones truth like you say

The preacher and the ministry is a complete scam. Until you have lived through what 16 or more of the parents have lived through, then you can say whether it is wrong or right. I have God in my life and does NOT approve as to what those people are doing. It is a shame that you are so closed minded that you are not intelligent to first view the facts. Shame on you and I will pray for your soul!

I have known Pastor Hartzog for many many years and I know he would not allow anyone to be mistreated. Trust me, He does what he does out of love and concern and would not intentionally let harm come to anyone. It is just a shame that it had to come to this. Group homes can be a successful way to turn kids lives and hearts around and assist families to reunite.

Where did he get the white chevy avalanch and his wife marta also got a new car a crysler aspen and a house on the golf course. and his boat. and also the new church how? He's a scam he nevered talk to any parent's marta talked to the boys parent's at church barley. Eddie judge yeah total b1tch she got payed 4,000 grand every two weeks. i remember the crap food annie armstrong made crap. Dr. al and the house parent's holly and rob i met not to long ago very good and they actually support the kid's that's why they fired them. Please write back i garantee you i know more then you...

It is such a shame! Pastor Hartzog is a con-artist by every means. If you mean they were cleared, that is not right. DCF found enough evidence to send their findings to the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Lake County Sheriff's detectives know there is wrong doing. They presented their case to the State Attorney's Office who, because of political reasons, decided not to go after them. Don't worry, thought, you will eat your words soon enough.They will have their day in civil court. Also, do you know that they refuse to release our children's educational transcripts because they want us all to sign a release that says we will not sue them. Their is one mother that is so frustrusted that her kid was 18 months and he is still considered in the public school system as being in the 8th grade which is the grade he was in when they put him in there. Keep an open mind. Where there's smoke, there's fire! He will burn in hell!

I agree. Pastor Danny and Marta were a scam. They fired staff that made waves who brought up problems at the school. The house parents were great and in it for the love of the children. They made many sacrifices and Danny & Marta took full advantage of them. I know of many unethical things they did. There were definitely fights between some of the boys. If the troublemaking boys had parents who could do something for the school, the boy's actions were overlooked or trivialized I personally caught Eddie J. in lies to cover for inadequacies at the school. Incidences that should have been reported to the police were not because they would have seen the school was out of compliance and closed them down. I could go on and on. Needless to say, I removed my son. I have the highest regard for the houseparents. The ones I knew were saints; however, the administration taints my memories of the school.

I forgot to mention that someone in the school endorsed a MacKay check for my son's tuition. These checks are mailed to the school and then must be endorsed by the "parents" since it's made out to the parent. I called Tallahassee to report this since it's a state check and they never returned my call. To the person who wrote about the education, my son went through the same thing. The school was too understaffed - one teacher to deal with troubled boys and teach at the same time. My son made no progress at all in the entire time he was there. While at the monthly parent meetings, Eddie would announce the fantastic progress the boys were making in their school progress. Yet all the parents we talked to reported the same mediocre results. There was no accountability for the boys not doing their work and not enough time for teachers to tutor outside of class.
