Lawsuit Alleges Illegal Debt Collection Practices By North Shore Agency, Inc.

i recieved a "collection" notice from north shore agency saying i owed 23.88 for instyle magazine that i never subscribed too. i have recieved so many of these letters. how can i get through to one of these jack asses to get me off their scamming list.

I received a notice from them saying I owe $208.95 for a People magazine subscription I never ordered. Another ripoff indeed because I just checked the People website and one year subscription is $51.00 and they are billing me for 4 years?

I have been receiving notification from NSA for the last couple months regarding a subcription to McCalls Quilting Magazine. I did not reorder this magazine and have spoken to the folks at McCalls twice. The first contact I had with them they said that all my bills were current and I didn't owe them anything. They would contact NSA. Then, the invoices kept coming. I called again today and they don't even have my account listed any more. I saw this website and had to put in my two cents. I sure hope they can't mess up our credit over this.

I have received 3 letters for $44.94 for books I ordered thru Rodale Books. I did receive the books and still have them but did not order these. I have responded 2 times to North Shore stating that if they would provide postage labels to cover the shipping I would be glad to send these back however I was not paying the postagel Guess what??? No answer

My Girlfriend just got her subscription letter from prevention magazine yesterday which she never ordered. We went to rip-off.com and there are several similar complaints about North Shore Agency Inc and these magazine scams. We are saving all correspondents we receive in the future and we are not paying them a dime. Hopefully North Shore Agency Inc will summons her to court and then she will be prepared to take legal action.

I also received a letter from this agency for a subscription to the AMerican Journal of Nursing. I never have nor would I subscribe to a nursing journal (I get them free at work).

Can't seem to track this down! Received a notice from this company for our daughter owing on children's books she never ordered (she's in college 5 hours away!)...can't contact customer service without leaving personal info over message...no way!

I too received the prevention mag. notification letter and spent 15 min trying to correct the problem. The mag. representative backed down to me immediately also. She even alluded to the company not being a "real" collection agency. I have never ordered that mag and I never received any copies, both of which she accused me of doing. That is so wrong.

It also happened to me with Prevention...which I never ordered and I never received. What an awful thing to do to people. The customer service rep even alluded to the fact that this place wasn't a "real" credit agency. How wrong!

I had a debt collector calling from a law office as a 3rd party call and leave a message on my work voicemail. When I did not return her call she then called and somehow got a hold of my boss and told my boss to tell me they were threatning to garnish my wages. I got the message given to me by my boss as soon as I got in this morning. Is this legal??

No its not, read the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. give them a piece of your mind!

I just had Conde Nast (GQ) reverse the "debt" of $28 they said I owed- they contacted North Shore Agency and then sent me verification via mail. Here's a question- Will this affect my FICO score? I mean, did that false debt still show up as a 30-Day-Late payment on my FICO? I have a perfect payment history for my entire life, and now I assume these bastards have reported a late payment to the 3 FICO/credit scoring agencies. If so, that means I'm going to have to contact Experion, Transunion, and Equifax individually along with attached proof of this false debt being cancelled, in order to wipe this from my credit history. The funny thing is that the GQ subscription was actually a gift from my ex-wife several years ago, and now I'm dealing with a big mess over a magazine I never even wanted!!! What a headache.:(
