Yes, there are several issues in Clearlake. The high crime rate, and one of the poorest Cities in the Nation. Knowing this, why is it that everyone can complain about how awful it is, and not try to do something about it. It is easy to throw out the negatives about the City, its people, but in reality it wouldn't be this way if other counties weren't paroling their problems here. YES that is right several counties have paroled their problem child criminals in this county since the eary 70s. 20-300 Parolees are sent here for up to 3-5 years, to live their lives here hidden away from their other cities because their towns wanted them far away. Many people deny it, but I have seen documentation on this. ALSO, when Vallejo went bankrupt the City of Clearlake rented out several 100's of apartments that weren't even built to stranded people. This community as overburdened as it is, will change. There are many new members of the Council that have in mind what this city needs to rebuild and develope new jobs, and with the support of the community members that honestly care it will grow slowly but surely. Nay-sayers need to "zip it" if you will if they dont intend to put in the effort to fix it. If you don't like Clearlake, and don't want to get off of your arse to help fix it, then remove yourself from the city.

Clearlake California is desolate and void of any civilization. Better. Cheaper. You can always get civilization through your computer, as you would with a place with pavement. Beautiful people are everywhere, you've just got to open your eyes a bit. Our home had it's door kicked open at 1:30 AM, but the perimeter wasn't buttoned up for the evening properly. The western ground quail is found in few places as well as deer, jackrabbits and squirrels. As far as pot stores (compassion centers), my work is on display FOR FREE, our Art House gallery charges and requires volunteer time- Tatooes and missing teeth, cigarette smoking, plaid wearing tatooes on the neck, scary people is what you'll find...if you're looking for them. My wife and I spent fifteen years in the worst part of downtown Oakland until I was shot walking to the store to buy a bag of ice- population 15,000 is too few people for any one to get away with anything. We all know everyone...you know us, we are poor. Always looking for a car that has matching body panels too. Your new car will be covered in dust. That's how we can spot a Clearlake resident. Like to leave here, but to where? It's cheap here, and only 2 1/2 hours from SF. Used to play Jazz all the time. Cannot find anyone who likes Jazz this side of NAPA- Used to play Shogi and Chess. No one wants to play chess with me here in Clearlake....always have hope!

Im from the south bay and i drove to Clearlake to see a house for sale (it was cheap and new and looked nice in the picture.) The house was in the middle of a 3rd world community and i could not believe what my eyes were seeing. It looked like a African slum town. everything was run down, small trailers stacked next to each other is where people were living, Nothing that you would expect from California at all. Shame Shame on the people who control Clearlake. ill never go there again!

We had to be in CL for some reason I can't remember, or maybe I have just shut it out of my thoughts, but anyway, we were eating at the Mexican rest. over by Safeway, we came out to our new truck, which we parked far away from any car, when I noticed what I like to call a lake co. bomber, or piece of junk car parked really close to our new truck.
This really large fella, at least 400 lbs tried to get in the drivers side, and as he did he swung his door into our new truck and as the car bounced up and down from him trying to squeeze himself in this little LC clown car. the white paint rub off of it on to our new truck door several times.
I yelled to my husband that, "hey there car door is scratching up our new truck door!" This big fella got in and started to take off. As he did my husband ran around and I yelled, "Get his license plate!"
The car slammed on it's breaks and backed up so quickly that they tried to run me over and I had to throw one of my kids in the back seat and jumpped on the running board to avoid getting hit. So now they scratched our new truck, tried to flee, then tried to run me over because I dared to say anything!
Next thing I see is another irate large person yelling at me ant not my husband, which I thought was pretty cowardly. Then this person got out of the car and came at me rather aggressively, when I noticed something, "Oh Shitaki!" that's not a man but a really ugly woman who looked like a man!
she started screaming at me how dare you try to take down their plate number, then called me "Miss Priss"! Which I thought was pretty funny, because even though I like to look nice we don't have a lot of money, and most of my clothes come from Walfart or Kfart. So if I'm wearing close from Walfart and I'm Miss Priss, what the heck did that make here?
They tried to run me over one more time and then sped off. We called the cops but didn't hear anything back from them. This is just a typical trip to CL, usually we get approached by drug dealers in the Walfart parking lot or cursed out by mentally disturbed individuals panhandling. Or the view of the ever pleasant butt cracks of all the young angry looking men with tattoos, that's another favorite!

Shame Shame on the people who control Clearlake. ill never go there again! You said it! We had some friends years ago who joined the Board of Supervisors and tried to clean up CL and LC but those darn people like it like that and ran our friends off. This county is notorious for their corrupt LE. Right now the BOS is trying to run off the current sheriff because he isn't part of the good ole boys club who lost the election because of the negligent death of Lynn Thorton by officer Perdock who was a buddy of the past sheriff Mitchell who lost for covering up for his cop buddy! The whole BOS should be voted out in the next election! It is absolutely ridiculous that the area you are talking about, "The Avenues" still doesn't have paved roads, yet the BOS wasted all this money on their revenge case against the current sheriff for something their own GOB sheriff Mitchell cleared him of! Its down right criminal, they are destroying this county with all their BS. They need to red tag about 75% of these dumpy crack trailers and replace them with new construction. Only then will the county improve as you bring in nice homes, law abiding, tax paying, contributing citizens will replace the 3rd generation welfare, food stamp type that have taken over LC. Another thing it is clear that LC is a dumping ground for sex offenders, just look at a Meghan's Law map of LC! And maybe if the local C** would patrol somewhere other than 5 minutes from their home in Cobb where there is no traffic problems, they could bust one of these druggies out driving the highways!

Where do you live that everyone waves at you? 100k will buy you a 500 sq. foot 1976 single wide in the "Avenues", if that's what you like I guess its nice!

They will sell your art if you pay them $50 a month, work for them for free, and they take a good size chunk of any profit you get for selling anything! Quite the illegal gimmick! How do they get away with that? No where for anyone in LC with any Art abilities to sell their stuff unless they put up with this mafia type shakedown from the local galleries and art guilds! Sure it's cheap to live in LC, but you get what you pay for!
