How about that? Don't these folks know we are in hard times? Is it true they are going to pass ballots out at the ball games to try to ram this through? That must have gotten that idea out of the ACORN handbook on how to rig an election.

I heard they plan to pass out bond election ballots at the ball games. That's dirty pool. My previous post compared it to ACORN tactics and that post got deleted. How much do you want to bet it happens again?

From what I understand, there are rooms in the present Elementary that are being used for storage. I guess they are going to keep pushing this issue until they ram it down everyone's throats. It does sound a little "Acornish" doesn't it. Brad and Bill are really standing up for the taxpayers. They both have been on there way too long........but it seems like whoever you vote on the board....you get the same ole BS. Maybe they should raise the alcohol and tobacco tax to pay for it-not just property tax.

If this bond goes over has anyone ever thought maybe those that are wanting a new school are the ones that do not own property or already have their tax base frozen to where they will not have to pay any higher taxes.
The scary part is the simple fact people do not have finances to pay what they already owe for taxes and should this new school come to pass if everyone that do not have property or children in this school area would move away from Clarksville : then let the ones who voted it in pay for it, it might wake some so called leaders a lesson. It makes no difference if there were three new schools if you don't have the children nor the money to pay for it what do you have ? Who knows they may be thinking of joining Avery as they did away with Boxelder and Annona.
It's most of the people who don't have property that wants for everything. This election should be only for people that own property and will be affected by the raise of taxes. Taxes are all that is left of Red River County and the City.

The Ballot's should be MAILED to property owners....Pure and Simple. They are probably thinking that they will need a bigger school when the "Egg Plant" bring's in the Mexican workers. What has Clarksville done to bring in more production/work facilities?

Fact: CISD has the lowest tax rate in Region 8.
Fact: The school was built in 1943.
Fact:Remodeling is a waste of money
Fact: Moving to another district will only cost you more money. Check out Rivercrest taxes.
Fact: A good number of older peoples taxes are already frozen.

Mindender ,would you tell us how much property you pay taxes on ? You say remodeling would be a waste of money that the school was built in 1943 so how old is the Court House and the Town Square ? Seems Remodeling did wonders to those two projects why would it not be great for the School? Would you tell us how many children there are from Head Start to the 5th,grade ? If people move to Rivercrest which several have they are closer to Mt,Plesant for all they're shopping needs and even baby Doctors. The Egg Houses may bring in some workers but do you think people would live in Clarksville rather than Mt,Plesant or Bogota.Regarless of wheather a person wants to believe it or not Clarksville,Texas is Dead ! It will never be as productive as it has been in the past and there are to many people already with their taxes frozen to ever come out of the depressed state it is in and has been for some time. The simple fact of the matter is to many people want things pretty for others to see and no Jobs to bring people to this area.Look how much the City and County pays out every month just for Employee's,council members, mayor, and police officers. Some one needs to tighten their belts as they say rather than continue bringing more hardship on the Tax payers. But when those in charge of handleing the Money arent willing to stop over spending then what will sooner or later happen, The Government will move in and run it.Look how many people that have already moved out of town,The City thinks because of how many water meters are still alive things will be ok because they do not want to tell people just how bad things really are,So if you are one of them GO ahead and Put up that New School and see how long it takes before you are wishing our now school should have been remodled ! Better yet when the City lake gets low get in a boat and ride slow all over it and see just what the City people have to use for drinking water, because that lake is filled in until it's pityful.Makeing something pretty will not solve the problem's Clarksville has.People need to VOTE it wet for the taxes from that woul be supriseing and a big help. But when you have comissioners that don't want it wet because that's one of Annona's big tax take { how do you get anything that would profit in here } Controle is Clarksville's name game .

I noticed you did not mention the low tax rate WE have now. Yes, I live in CISD and pay taxes. As far as Clarksville going wet that would only create more problems for the city and the county. You could remodel the old elem school but ten to fifteen years down the road you would be back in the situation still with an old building built in the 40's. The court house and square are nice, however they dont have 500 people trying to teach and get an education daily. Those projects didnt have the rquirements that schools have, so you are not comparing apples to apples. Schools are bulit to work for 30 to 40 years. The elem students and teachers need a new school. Everybody knows it. If you dont believe me go take a look for yourself.

Yeah, but kids can get a beter education at Rivercrest. Fact, Clarksville is a poor district. Fact, probably less than 20% of the elementarty parents pay property taxes. Fact, passing out ballots at ball games is pure chicken shit. Fact, there is no one on the board that pays a significant amount in school taxes, not even Rains on his mini-ranch. Fact the curren board and administration do a piss poor job of handling tax payer's money as it is, Example: 19 boys out for football and 8 coaches. Fact, look at the present board and administration. Do you want to turn them loose with $14,000,000 in tax payer money? Fact is, they are going to try to fix it to where the people that pay the bills do not get to decide the issure.

Boy Toy: when a council member and even X-council members and Fire fighters get a Flat Rate water bill each month they are being paid for they're services{ Check the records at City Hall } Mindender quoted 500 students and teachers.Even at that figure do you know how much the school recieves per student ? put a pencil on your figures and tell us how long will our great grandchildren will be in debt for something the people of Clarksville wanted . If Clarksville had enough students and the depressed situation Clarksville is in did not exist then I most likely would vote for the bond but People please consider the after affects of makeing an { X } on one little piece of paper . Wake up and keep your belts tight and VOTE NO to this School Bond if you plan on keeping a roof over your heads and food on the table. This is a very serious Vote and each person needs to truely study the out cry of it.Clarksville and Red River County should have been Wet many years ago, as for creating more problems , no way .Look how many law officers the City and County have on pay roll now .If people will vote the County and City wet it will be a big help to all and futher more check out and see how many booming towns and county's that are wet that are in the depressed situation that this City and County are in ? This City and County need to be WET WITHOUT a Fourteen million dollar School.

Being a RISD taxpayer and having a student in school, I am sick and tired of kids coming from Clarksville and going to school here and their parents getting to enjoy a low tax rate.We pay for our kids education over here and you should too. Clarksville should have paid the fiddler along time ago. But hey everybody always wants something for nothing. I figure a Clarksville kid can get a quality education in Clarksville. As far as voting the city of Clarksville wet it's all around bad idea. They got enough problems trying to keep peace witout throwing gas(booze) on a already lit fire.
