Let's ignore the normal arguments about Mayor's Courts and how all of this is about money, speed traps...that kind of thing.
After the problems with the last police chief and the officers performing illegal acts both on and off duty Newtonsville is going to hire this guy?
I wonder if newly appointed Chief Casey's background check showed that he was TERMINATED from Clearcreek Township after his own department did a raid on a local business and found him taking part in illegal activities? But I doubt that a town of "god fearing" people with five churches in less than a quarter square mile would care about that sort of thing.
Besides, that's not nearly as criminal or immoral as former male Newtonsville officers soliciting sexual favors from both men and women while on duty. They did nothing about those officers when the crimes were brought to light and even attempted to rehire some of them for the “new” police department.
Everyone deserves forgiveness, but no one should forget!!! If you commit crimes as a police officer then you have no value for the people and laws you are sworn to protect...I think this called hypocrisy...and it has no place in law enforcement.
When Newtonsville employs people like this it only serves to fuel the many arguments against small town policing. You get what you pay for, and there is a reason why after a fifteen year law enforcement career Chief Casey is not working at a large department, making a boatload of cash...think about it!!!

I think he used to work for Wayne Township. I'm sure they didn't do any more checking that hadn't already been done.

I can only imagine, but you'd think someone would have already done that before he got the job? Not that it probably would have made a difference! What is it with these small towns hiring people that have no business being police officers? Small towns cops already have a bad name when they put on the uniform, why make it worse by hiring someone who will discredit the profession?

Is the mayors court out screwing people over yet? I heard the mayor took two days worth of classes and now he's an expert in law! But I guess when you drive through Newtonsville you are consider guilty when you cross the town line?

I love it how people can bitch and complain on here where no one knows who they are. But there is never anyone in the audience at the Council meetings every month.

Most of the people that live in the town or just outside have given up and they just don't care anymore! As long as I've been around the village council does whatever they want for their own purposes and they don't bother to listen to what "Joe Public" wants. The town is too small to be an effective service to its citizens and the people in charge don't want to grow for fear of loosing the small town they grew up in. Keep in mind, you might have a looser who is willing to run the police department for free now but how long do you think that is going to last? How many people voted in the last election? I think it was 7? You tell me how much people care about Newtonsville anymore.

Besides, most of the people that are going to complain are going to be the ones who have to fork out extra cash to supplement your "Road Nazis".

You seem a little accusatory with your comment because someone chooses the standard practice of using a screen name while on the web.

So is "YEAH" your first name or last? Or are you hypocritical because that would be typical of the governing body of Newtonsville.

Just let this die. Newtonsville hasn't been anything more than a four way stop for years now. The town has been dying since the council decided an easy way to get money was through traffic tickets. It's been going on for as long as I can remember and it isn't going to change. Just do what most people do and drive around town. Don't spend any money on any of the few business...just let the town die and have it get annexed back into the township where something good can actually be done.

So "Yeah", are you still skimming money off the village bank accounts? I'm suprised no one has called you on that yet. Or maybe I'm just mistaking you for someone else?

Did you know that a public servant can be charged with Theft in Office for up to two years after they leave public employment?

I don't think the clock has even started yet?

Sorry, my mistake...thought you were once an appointed official, not elected, by the fact you seem to know that there is never anyone at the meetings. I thought only someone on the board would know and feel that strongly about it. I stand corrected.

By the way, find a different means of masking your IP if you really want to be anonymous.

its hard to be a full time police chief when you are constantly in the welfare and unemployment lines...also at the food pantries and looking for a free handout.

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Pisces

This is another good day to be tactful, and if anything you'll be even more successful than you were yesterday. This is not to be sneezed at, so seize the opportunity to talk to people who can sometimes be very touchy or who need to be handled with kid gloves. If you meet someone who's older or more influential than you, you'll be a big hit with them.
