Name that canyon

Full story: The Herald Hournal

The name's a bit fishy. Some locals believe that "Sardine Canyon" came from travelers eating packaged sardines on their way into Cache Valley.

Actually, the photo shows Wellsville Canyon. The highway goes over Sardine Pass, then descends Wellsville Canyon into Cache Valley. The "old" trail, then road, went down Sardine Canyon. You can still see the old road heading to the northeast and into Sardine Canyon from the highway, although it can't be accessed from there, as the highway cut ended the old road in a steep cliff/bank.

As for the name - some say Sardine Canyon was named because of canned sardines that were eaten on the trail. Others say it's because the canyon wound around like a sardine. Who knows?

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Sagittarius

You're in rather a downbeat mood, Sagittarius, and you definitely need cheering up. Unfortunately, it's heavy weather at the moment, as Mars slows and the cosmos rather disturbed, but later in the month is wonderful for you. Money problems are particularly difficult to deal with right now, because you can't help worrying about them. Now that prevents you seeing the best course of action to solve them. Relax, even miserable moods soon pass.
