David Essad beats his wife again.

It appears the ex "tactical" "use of force" and "weapons expert" from Shelby Township hasn't learned.
David Essad was again arrested for domestic violence after a warrant was sworn out July 30 2009 in Oakland County Circuit Court.
Essad was inept as an officer for the Shelby Township Police and it appears he is nothing more than a scumbag wife beater.
Looks like his next court date is August 21, 2009 in Pontiac. We need some women's right's activist to be in the courtroom to support Julie Essad.

I thought I heard that David Essad did it again. It doesn't suprise me. and do you think this is really the first time he has assaulted her since he almost tried to kill her a year ago? Most likely, he has been assaulting her the whole time and she feared for her life and stayed with him.

That guy used incredibly poor judgment as a Police Officer far too many times for a responsible person to count. Hard to believe his supervisors were not aware of his heavy handed, harsh and abusive enforcement style.

He used poor judgment came to the surface again beating his wife so severely on her birthday that she suffered a closed head injury and broken nose. It was also alleged that he pulled his department issued firearm on her. He was also drinking while packing his pistol.

How could his Supervisors turn a blind eye with such facts out in the Media. They even went so far as to boast about his stellar record as a Police Officer to keep him on the force, until the Politicians intervened.

I'm just surprised his Chief did not claim his officer did nothing wrong. Then again how could that be plausible.

His loving wife gave him another chance. Love is often blind.

David rewarded her forgiving nature with another beating earlier this month.

Hopefully Judge Kumar will effect Justice and sent him off to the Oakland County Jail for a year. David belongs in Jail as hes just another violent criminal.

How many peoples lives has that man ruined?

One is too many.

The man is a menace to Society and should be locked up to prevent him from Murdering someone.

I am a police officer and I am shocked at the behavior of this man. From all of the DV cases I have handled, this is by far the worst ever. I also know that it is very normal for these victims to go back to their abusers. I pray that his wife is safe and I hope she has the courage to leave him. I also pray that she does not stay for fear of her life.

I truely feel sorry for his wife as she believed she was doing the right thing by giving him a second chance. May justice be served...Essad is crazy.

Ron your clearly the voice of ethical Law Enforcement. What you say about Domestic abusers and their victims is true. Your comments about David Essads mental health are justified.
Please keep in mind that until the wife beating incident that made the Papers, David Essad was one of Shelby Township Police Departments finest officers.
Also keep in mind that the Shelby Township Police Department has endured one scandal after another. These incidents have ranged from its Police Officers: using a Police Computer system to spy on others, running a red light on the way to work and killing a mother and her children, Driving Drunk falling asleep in an intersection and fighting with responding sheriffs officers upon being awakened having fallen asleep at at traffic light.
Perhaps the most controversial incident was when five Shelby Police Officers tasered a man to death for running around in his shorts. This resulted in the Townships insurers opting to pay 1.95 Million dollars to the decedents family without consulting the Township. Questions remain as to whether Essad, the Departments Principal use of Force Intructor, was responsible for their training.
Most recently a Township Detective beat an Attorney in a Courtroom for "creating a disturbance" The Detective was not injured the Attorney required numerous stitches on his face. This case has yet to be adjudicated.
For all of this to happen in a sixty man Police Department indicates that certain undesirable pathologies run deep in its character.

...Sounds to me like the Grasshopper needs to be humbled by Judge Kumar.... Its long overdue.

His Probation Violation hearing date has once again been changed to December 2,2009 at 1:30 PM

Essad is Dangerous. Where is the concern for the safety of the mans family, let alone for the safety of the Community?

David Essad needs to be given the death penalty. He tried to kill his wife, he deserves to die. What a useless waste of human life. He sucked as a cop too. What a loser. I hope he dies ASAP

It is unfortunate that you above bloggers are right. Not that I regret that you are right about your facts and opinions, but that you're right about Officer David Essad. He does not represent all officers in Shelby Township, and is truly an embarassment and disgrace to the department. I do wonder, though, how many of his fellow officers saw him do something, tell a lie, break a rule, falsify information, and turn their head? If so, they should regret it. They are part of the problem.
His wife was beaten badly, and with some bad luck, could have died during the first (reported) incident. It is an unfortunate statistic, but most violators commit their crime at least 10 times before being caught.
I do think law enforcement is a brotherhood, but siblings must keep an eye on each other, and for serious missteps, Essad should have been checked, counseled, disciplined or fired. I don't recommend snitching on each other, but if you're working with a criminal and don't address it, you are guilty of the angst and disrespect police endure all over. What kind of police officer thinks its ok to work alongside a criminal?
Police Officer Essad does not deserve to wear a badge, and those protecting him need to rethink their vocation and oath.

Not one officer in the department ever saw or known Dave Essad was a wife beater.

I can also assure you that if they did they would of taken care of business. Not one person on the department ever liked nor respected him. He is a pompous ass who liked saying he was a cop but never enjoyed being a cop. He beat his wife, got caught, refused to admit he was wrong, and will ultimately hit rock bottom sometime.

Thank God when he does it won't be as a police officer.

Also, if you know the officers of Shelby Twp, I can assure you that Essad no longer disgraces the department. How can he....he doesn't work there anymore. He embarassed the department and he got his ass fired because of it and because of his actions.

With that in mind you ought to be proud of the officers who actually STILL represent the twp. There are thousand of careers Essad could of had that wouldn't of fired him for beating his wife. Hell those jobs wouldn't of even known he beaten his wife. Why do you get fired for breaking the law if your a cop???? The police did it right by canning him immediately. Give them some credit.....the police didn't beat her.....Essad did.

Because police are given so much respect by officials and citizens they should not be kept to the same standard as citizens but a higher standard. Like when a school teacher gets charged with CSC, there are special laws in force that make the offense above and beyond because he is entrusted with teaching children. Cops are entrusted with public safety; they are who I was taught to look for in an emergency for answers. When an officer like David Essad is allowed to run rampant on citizens as he had done before his arrest it shakes people's entire view of all police. Just like I have to look at all school teachers as suspect because some teacher molested a student, I have to look at all police officers in the Shelby Police department as suspect because they allowed David Essad to operate unopposed. It was only after he imploded that he was finally stopped. It is equal to Utica school district allowing a teacher to Molest students until he finally rapes a non student neighborhood kid and gets charged. Then the school district fires him as a teacher. It's too late, you allowed this man to damage the lives of innocent people and you knew about it and assisted in the behavior, you're all guilty as accessories to Essad's misdeeds. I now recommend that everyone arm themselves and post video surveillance everywhere because cops are not your friends unless it's for an, after the fact, report to allow you to collect from an insurance company that really is there to help you. Although, I actually pay more for police protection per year than I do for insurance per year. Oh well, at least I can count on one of them to do the right thing.
The officers themselves need to police their own and report the bad apples to weed them out, not promote them. It’s so very sad to me that I have to teach my children to call family for help before the police and never say a word to officers unless your parents are present because police may not have your best interest at heart…… so sad.

Now your talking about arming yourself to protect yourself from the police.

Real smart. I can give you many examples of how the police helped me in situations where nobody else could of helped me. They are the heroes of our nation.

No, I believe it's naive to believe the police would ever be able to protect my family adequetely when they are beating their own family members nearly to death or are "brothers in blue" with such people. I hope I never have to arm myself to protect my family from the actual police, although Mrs. Essad may wish to arm herself as protection from her police husband.

Mrs. Essad, if you ever happen to read these blogs, I can imagine how painful it can be.

But listen, the community supports you. If you have chosen to live your life without him, it will be difficult at first, but I guarantee, you will find peace and order in your home in the years to come. You will be able to raise your children in the healthy environment you and they deserve, and most importantly, they and you will never have to witness brutality again. The first steps are hard, but keep walking, and your strength will be restored quickly.

Unfortunately Mrs. Essad is a magnet to fists. So are most domestic victims. They love the abuse and that is why they never leave.

I don't understand. Why is this guy allowed to be a police officer?
