I would hope that all of the Clarkston residents would ban together and beg for the
removal of that horrid huge painting.

1 I believe the city didn't know what they approved or they need eye glasses. That thing is horrid. |

i really think that everyone is being too dramatic!! this woman has spent a lot of time and effort into this painting and we should be greatful that she is doing this for our city, and its not even finished yet so i dont think that you can judge it soo harshly

The city didn't approve it. Art does not need approval other than the person commissioning it. The city has nothing to do with it. The artist can paint what she wants and is protected by the 1st amendment.
Thank-goodness for the bill of rights or people like those who live in CLarkston and protest this project might prevail. They are not as dramatic as they are dim wits for challenging city coucils' approval of art in Rochester and Clarkston. Go back and take 6th grade history class. |

If something has been designated as a historical site, it needs approval to maintain that status. As part of historical downtown clarkston, it falls in that category. It's like living in a subdivision with a home owner's association, you have rules. |

I'm surprised some one hasn't painted over it by now. Seriously. It's very ugly. But that is only my opinion. Truthfully, if the Artist toned it down some it may look great.

1 I live in Clarkston and, I think the mural is going to look great when it's done.I think that SOME of the residents of the Village of Clarkston are just afraid of a little diversity. Gee, I bet the Clarkston residents wouldn't mind if they had put something like that on Sashabaw Rd. between 75 and Maybee. Someday the residents of Clarkston will just have to down off their high horse and except that other people, with differant views are living here and many more are soon to come. Get used to it or move to Rochester! |
Are you the one who painted it?
What do you mean you are surprised no one has painted over it yet? That is a criminal action punishable by law. you are surprised by a labor intensive project being delayed and resources being slight for completion but not by the possiblility of criminal behavior in your "charming" community?????????? some in Clarkston are not "right" in the head!
And no painting a mural on a private building is not like living in a subdivision and is not subject to historical society management!! Please get educated before you all blab about what you think you know. You are embarrassing the greater detroit area! |
The painting is still making newspapers regularly and how many chatrooms are there about this!!!
There must be something more important to complain about! |
I wish I were the one who painted it. I would have clearly made it look more like Queens NYC's street art. Oh Clarkston snobs your cries aren't being heard any more. I guess you'll have to start pulling money out of your pockets next. I know how it is in Clarkstobn. I have been living here for years. |

The quality of the mural is awful. The perspectives and scales are inconsistent.
The tree does not look realistic. The columns are terrible. The artist is clearly over her head. Mr. Sherman should paint this over, as a mural with the quality of art in a High School yearbook should not be his legacy. |

I drive through Clarkston often and I have to laugh at the abomination that is called a mural. I can't believe precious little Clarkston has let this eyesore go on for so long. Maybe you can get some of Jerry's kids to paint some other murals to match this one.

It doesn't appear to be hurting her too much. i hope she finishes it and it looks great, then she will win.

She's been working on this thing for over 2 years now! And I agree...it's an eyesore, the theme of the mural has changed a few times, and the scaffolding is taking up precious parking spaces in the lot. Get the darn thing done already!
I don't think the thenme has changed...she's the only one painting it. I think it has just taken that time to get it to the point its at...that's what makes it so interesting....all the levels and stages it goes through to near a completion.
These things happen alot quicker when there are like ten people working on it. |
