Yeah, open up a non-smoking casino and see how well it does.

They passed that non-smoking crap here in Omaha and every bar owner, bartender, waiter, and seemingly everyone else is suffering badly. Lots of bars are just empty and dead now, because everybody drives 30 minutes away to Iowa to drink and smoke.

You can still smoke at 2 of the 3 casinos because they're boats.

I say if you don't want to be around smoke, don't go to a smoker friendly establishment.

Private owners and companies alike should have the final say on smoking in the establishments that THEY, NOT the government, own.

2 years ago they put a smoking ban on the casinos in Atlantic City. They did keep a very small area open for smokers. The casinos lost a substantial amount of money as smokers went elsewhere to gamble. Now, because of the tax revenue loss to the state because of the ban, they have decided to once again allow smoking in the casinos. Lesson learned.

Unfortunately, Omaha is full of wealthy, whiney people that want to seem sophisticated and holier than thou, so if they don't smoke, nobody else should.

And by the time the actual numbers come in and we see how much that's hurting all of the small businesses, bars, restaurants, etc, most of the damage will be irreversible and in the end, the business owners as well as the taxpayers are the ones getting screwed.

It's bad enough that they won't allow casinos to operate in Nebraska. Taxes here suck.
For a place that's doing very well financially, this place is ass-backwards. I'd love to move back south if I could find a decent job there.

Passed the smoking ban here in TN also, except for 21 and over establishments. That would save the casinos, if we had any, as you must be 21 to enter. I stopped going to the boat in Metropolis, IL due to the smoking ban in the casino. Now travel to Indiana and Tunica. Please don't pass this bill, we smokers deserve a place to gamble and waste our money. We are tax paying citizens that still deserve some considerations.

I don't hang out at casinos but this does sound far fetched! What do they do to you if you're caught smoking inside? Do you get arrested?

Does anyone know where my cousin Butch Stanton is these days? Saw something on the Internet where he plays those role playing games. He used to teach school somewhere around there. Haven't seen him in years.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Sagittarius

You're in a strange mood, Sagittarius. You're feeling impatient and cross, and nothing is quite right. No wonder, with Mercury and Mars retrograde, under a Full Moon lunar eclipse! But is it necessary to be quite so contrary, so determined to do the opposite of what's expected of you? Try to sort out the problem sooner rather than later, then do something energetic and therapeutic so you can burn off your nervous energy. Then you're all set for a great New Year's Eve!
