An Elk Grove couple is facing felony child endangerment charges after leaving a 2-year-old boy inside a parked car while they went shopping at a Sacramento mall.

Was in Sacramento this weekend. It was hot! Ignorance cant be used as an excuse because anyone in the area could tell you that if you left your car even for a minute in that weather, you came back to a very hot car which was nearly unbreathable. Even at 10 pm at night it was stil 75 degrees. Poor child. I dont think parenting classes for his/her parents would help.

I am sorry, but what your cousin did was inexcusable. How could you say that it was a mistake? OMG you have a child, you take it with you! You don't just leave it in the car to go shopping. There is nothing you can say that can excuse what these people have done. That child could of died, and then what can you say? Oops? This isn't just an oops. I think your cousin deserves to have this child taken away from her. If going shopping means more than taking care of her child, then I don't think she deserves a child, and should stick to what she knows. Absolutely nothing. |

Nobody is excusing what was done. It was wrong. She knows it. I know it. Everyone knows it. And its not just an oops. But for people to come on here writing stuff thats ignorant and speaking on a situation they dont know is rediculous. And she was not going in the mall to shop. The news can report what they saw on camera which is of course proof, yes they went to the mall and he was in the car, but there are news reports that say he was left in the car for 30 minutes and reports that he was in there for 2 hours. You cannot believe everything you see. They are being punished for what they did wrong so it is not up to anyone on a website to try and get involved in their private lives.

Who is getting involved?? Justice was done, and now they are going to pay big time for leaving a child in that car in 76 degree weather. I mean how can you say we can't judge when she left her BABY IN THE CAR? I mean I am sorry, but only an idiot would do something like that. And if the shoe fits, wear it.. Doesn't matter if she went to the mall, or stopped to use the restroom somewhere, what they did has no name. If she was not going to the mall to shop, then what was she going to do steal? You go to the mall, you buy= you are SHOPPING.. it's no wonder this happened.. people making excuses for her therefore her sob story will get her pardoned. If she wanted her life kept in private, this should of never happened then. She isn't a movie star, with papparazi after her.. She committed a crime, end of story. |

I have never and would never leave my child in a car anywhere at anytime for any reason unless I was there with him. How could any sane parent leave their child in a car of a crowded mall parking lot where the child could have been found by a pervert or anything, This girl not woman needs to thank god a decent person found her son and helped him before something very bad happened.

it seems to me that people with a college degree, would never leave there children in a car, in other words, people with a little bit of smarts would not do stupid things like this, common sense is all it takes, these people are idiots, i agree, you dont leave your kid in a car not even for 1 minute, peole are idiots that live like this, they should not be allowed to even have a dog, let alone a child, race is not the issue, its being an idiot thats the issue, probably crack freaks.

Once, in my entire life as a parent have I ever "forgot" my child was in the bask seat asleep. It took all of 2 minutes for me to realize it and walk across the parking lot, horrified that I was so consumed in what I was doing to forget about her. I'm sure this happens to everyone at some point in their life but only few would admit it. That being said, how do you "forget" for 10, 20, 30 minutes...hours?? If your so absentminded that you would walk into a mall for any length of time than thats a sign of something bigger. I don't know this person but I would guess that this isn't the first time they've collectively shown signs of bad parenting, but hopefully it will be the last.
