The children fighting in Iraq right now make about $20,000 a year if that; depending on their rank. I feel their the ones that deserve the raise..

A PAY RAISE?!? NO What overtime are they talking about? I resent paying them anything to hide behind bushes waiting to write some tax payer a ticket. Why should I pay for that? If you think cops lay their lives on the line please go research the top ten most dangerous jobs, being a cop is not one of them. Commercial fisherman is the most dangerous job. We just don't hear the clamourous whining from them that we do from the police union. Police manufacture more crime then they ever hope to solve. I suggest we reduce the Police force to 1/3 of its current size. If one worries about their safety at night, don't. When you go to bed at night is there a cop hiding in one of your closets waiting to take on any and all intruders or are you on your own to provide your own safety and defense?

Now that we have camera's to patrol the streets for traffic maybe they should reduce the police force.

They should do like "Sheriff Joe" in Arizona. They could set up a checkpoint in West Chicago and any illegals driving are detained and turned over to ICE for deportation! When they do that regularly, sending thousands of them back, then they can talk about a raise.

of course everyone understands that the sheriffs department has the only bomb squad in the county. since 9/11 happened the FBI has restricted bomb squads to the county level only. they no longer want individual citys applying for permits. this limits the amount of people that have the knowledge about bomb making and dismantling. the FBI controls who can do this. they dont want citys like wheaton or naperville to have their own bomb squads cuz thats just more people to have to watch, and keep track of. also the sheriffs dept is the only police dept. with riot control. not to mention the narcotics squad. seeing as how dupage citys are right next to each other it's not hard to figure out that narcotics move from one town to the next. imagine addison looking into naperville. anyways you start to see the pic? sure they patrol around the unincorporated areas on occasion. but they also do a lot of other things too.

911Emergency wrote: These guys deserve more than $2000 increase. How many people do you know that daily lay their lives on the line for under $50K? A $5000 raise for each road deputy is pale in comparison to the fine service they provide to our county! how about every us soldier in iraq.

If you werent guilty then you should have fought it stupid! anonymous wrote: Spare me. The arrested me for DUI after I failed a field sobrity test. I was taking a pain medication that was prescribed to me for a spinal injury. Of course I couldn't pass their test. "I had a spinal injury" I could drive, I just had problems walking. I pleaded guilty just to get it over with and ended up getting 10 weekends in their jail. I had to pay them $105 a week (even though I was only there 3 days) and no matter how many letters my neurologist wrote, they refused my medication. What did they do with that $105? It certainly wasn't for food. I wouldn't feed a dog what they feed people and sleeping on a slab of cement isn't exactly top of the line in luxury. Electric doors running all the time so they can go out and smoke? What's that all about? Can't they just open a door? The waste I saw in there was rediculous. I'm sick that I live in DuPage County. The guards were condescending and rude to everyone other than their "favorite few". I will NEVER have respect for police again. I'm so glad I'm through that mess. Let them do with what they have and lose some of the waste if they want more money.

The Sheriff's Office is currently testing. Applications can be picked up at 421 County Farm RD in Wheaton. Deadline is soon approaching. Youll have to start in the jail, but you can easily make over $100K i you pick up alot of overtime in there.
