I am moving for my job to the CHicago area and will be working in Lombard. I am looking for advice on what area I should move to. I am in my early thirties and will be moving with my girlfriend. We are looking for an area with a decent nightlife but I don't want an hour commute to work. Any suggestions?

Hi Jim,
I would highly recommend Naperville for you. It has a great downtown area with lots of great restaurants and bars, as well as shopping. It is west and a bit south of Lombard but not far for you, depending on which part of Naperville you would settle in. Good luck on your move! |

Jim,
I would suggest living in Lombard. There are nice restaurants, bars and shopping as well. The commute from Naperville can be a challenge. Lombard is centrally located so you can go to Naperville and Chicago, as well as other nice towns within the vicinity. |

With summer coming, find a 6 month lease or a sub-lease and head for the city! It will give you time to decide what area appeals to you. PS Go ahead and buy if you can afford it, its a great place to plant roots while you're single. Welcome to a great place to live! |

So where did you end up? How do you like it?

Did you graduate from Glenwood High School?

I like Naperville too. It was voted as a best place to live. There is a nice riverwalk too. But if Naperville is too far for you (from Lombard), then you can stay in Lombard. Actually, go for a walk in Lombard and Naperville and see what feels better for you.

Lombard is a very nice town in DuPage County. You can get the country feel as well as city. And taxes are cheaper than in Cook County. They have some great restaurants and other features there. But most certainly stay out of Cook County!

Consider Downers Grove. It really has a lot of character and great nighlife!

Ok..Naperville is nice..but it's become tooooo overcrowded w/ traffic. I'd suggest looking beyond Naperville unless you LOVE traffic. It was great about ten years ago...but...don't look at it as an "investment" in real estate down the line when you want/need to move on.
