Marianna's first priority with said Health Funds should be to enforce people who serve food to get a Health Card and enforce those those eareies to not hire anyone without one.
..Next, vascectomies and sterilization for rapists, child molesters, and men who habitually cannot afford child support after fathering too many children. Same goes for the females. A woman who gets pregnant while on drugs should automatically be fixed. ..SusanDianeMurphree..Marianna , Arkansas |

More welfare. Just what Arkansas needs.

To cool:
..What I suggested is not welfare, it is the much needed use of funding that is ALREADY ALLOCATED. More welfare would be in supporting unwanted births, especially by diseased and drug induced parents which is transferred over to the babies, of which, some babies die within months of birth. ..SusanDianeMurphree..Marianna , Arkansas |

Thank you. Allocation problems need to be addressed.

Yes it is welfare. And altho it is not a pleasant fact - there are many people in Arkansas who need it. Yes, the system is abused over and over and over and most definitely needs to be reformed but the children should not have to suffer. Be as ticked off at the lazy welfarm mommas and baby's daddy's as you want to be - but don't let the children be harmed as a result. In my opinion, recipients of any form of healthcare, welfare etc should be drug tested, if they fail then deny care to the adult - but never the child.

And its a crying shame when you see entire towns in need of welfare.

What about the children of the taxpayers who have food taken out of their mouths so the government can give it to others whom it deems are more worthy? No one wants a child to be needy, but stealing from other children isn't right either. Let private charities and churches meet those needs, not from government theft. |

what is going to happen to the elderly people and the children if the system keeps getting abused by these lazy drug head baby makers?

Well, if you are so poor that you cannot afford to pay your taxes then apply for help. No one is saying that the welfare system is being properly handled because it isn't. There are many solutions to solving this problem such as making the parents receiving the aid work for it. By this I mean make them go out and perform public service work - the type that is not currently being taken by anyone but would be agreat service to the community like picking up the trash on the road...working in public run daycares as volunteers of sorts. Makes sense to me but logic has never been a strong point of the welfare system. |

Even if work is required from those receiving government support, it doesn't alter the fact that government takes food out of the mouths of some children in order to give to others whom it deems are more worthy to receive it. Robin Hood may have had good intentions, but he was still a thief. Government should stop stealing and leave charitable work to the charities and churches. |

I'll tell you what happened to me and my child. I have been a working self sufficient citizen for 26yrs. My child has some problems and there is just no one who will keep my child. I am unable to work in my profession, and things are pretty sad. No government help until ALL assets are gone. My home is paid for, but there is no help in keeping it up. No help for food, babysitter or anything. My child has been on what they call a DDS waiver list for 2yrs. This is supposed to give relief to people with diablities. Still no help!!!! What is the problem????? We have no family to help and the gov. won't help until you are destitude. I am afraid to sell the home because it is at least a roof over our heads. My life savings is just almost gone!!!!! This just makes me sick. I would take a drug test, donate my time in exchange for a sitter or whatever it takes but that is all beside the point. We need help and it is just not coming. Our elderly and children are not getting a fair deal. REFORM is not even an adequate word for what I feel. |
First - there is always a place where a child will be fed. Always. If you feel like you don't make enough money - educated yourself and better yourself and your circumstances in the process. The Government is being badly mismanaged but helping the less fortunate and needy is a sign of a civilized nation - not to mention a Christian one. Are you telling me that in order to help feed another child you are angry that you have to eat hamburger instead of steak? That makes no sense. A system MUST be set up to care for those who cannot care for themselves. Simply repeating the mantra "they are stealing from my kids mouths" sounds kind of greedy and selve serving when your children are healthy and well fed. And if they aren't - that lies squarely on the heads of the parent for not applying for aid or help. |
Does your child have a medical diagnosis? If he does there is all kinds of aid for you out there - but you have to seek it out and EDUCATE YOURSELF - obviously you have a computer or computer access - use it to your advantage instead of wasting your time crying over it? Stand up - be a mom and most of all - be strong. Nothing is insurmountable and you have doomed yourself from the beginning by saying "I can't" |
PS - to Cannot Understand- Unfortunately it is people with your attitude that are clogging up the welfare system. You aren't doing much to help yourself but you want others to help you.
You are sadly mistaken. I am very educated and have never and will never say "I can't". My child has improved beyond belief due to my efforts and the time it takes to take her to therapy 3 evenings a week and meet all the other needs. The down side is that I am unable to work except when when school is in session. You undoubtedly believe as I did, that the system takes care of the disabled. Yeah, eventually they say help will be available but at this time we are looking at help maybe in 2011. It's impossible to clog a system if your not even in it. |
PS--My child does have a diagnosis considered a disablity but you must wait your turn for assistance.
If you don't see that there is a problem - then there is really no helping you. You must first help yourself and looking at your whining first post it is obvious you feel more self pity than anything else. If you are as educated as you say then you should know how much it costs to have a sitter come to your home - and you should be able to pay it. Simple. Don't create your own problems and for goodness sakes don't feel sorry for yourself. |

Oh, so it's my problem that I don't make enough money to support my own family, plus another one or two? You know, if every family took care of their own, there would be no need for government to forcibly take away what I've worked hard to earn just to give it to someone else that it deems is more worthy to enjoy the fruits of my labor than me. Wrong. Governments that take away from one to give to another are socialist/communist nations, or ones existing under a tyrant's control. They certainly aren't ones that stand for the freedom and liberty of all men. And there isn't a Christian church in existence that forcibly takes property from some of its members to give to another. The Christian example is to give cheerfully, not under compulsion. I'm telling you that government should not forcibly take property from anyone in America in order to give it to someone else that it deems more worthy to have or use it. And to answer your question, yes, I have to make do with less because government takes away what I've earned in order to give it to someone else. According to the IRS, about 2/3 of all the costs of government is for socialist programs from social security to medicare to welfare. All are nothing more than a redistribution of wealth. So, 2/3 of the taxes I'm forced to pay is simply given to others whom government deems more deserving of my hard earned money. You're damned straight I have to make do with less because of that. There are such systems. They are privately funded charities and religious organizations. People willingly give to support them, unlike government that forcibly takes money away (a.k.a. stealing). It's not a mantra, it's the truth! And if I only had to pay 1/3 of the taxes I now pay, my children wouldn't have to suffer because government steals food from their mouths to give to the crackhead down the street that's too high to work a steady job. |

Unfortunately you are stuck on the idea that it is bad to help the less fortunate and needy. There is nothing I can do about that. What I can say however is that no matter how much the system needs to be reformed it is a still a necessity. As far as how much money you make - you can thank the capitalistic society that you live in. If you don't like it you can always leave. Move to another country that will treat you so much better. Now lets's think for a second - where would that be? Where else in the world can you have such freedom to blast away at the gov and have such a high standard of living at the same time?
Privately funded charities and churches are not enough because there are people like you who look down their noses and refuse to help others. They simply don't bring in enough money to help. This country has long had somewhat socialist leanings - almost every CIVILIZED country does. This is a Republic after all. And taking care of the weak is part of that. I cannot believe that you would actually encourage another childs suffering by not wanting to pay taxes. Good Grief! How selfish can someone get? By the way taxes take care of much more than the welfare system - the roads you drive on - the streets you live on - public works - you name it. So don't whine too much because without taxes where on earth would you be? In a horse and buggy society. AKA a THIRD WORLD. |

If your child has a disability and it is medically verified there is no reason he/she should not receive help from the gov via a SSI check etc.- Which would bring in more money and help pay for a sitter. If he does not qualify for that then he is not truly disabled. |
