With all the people busted in the last 6 months for sexually abusing students, they could hire back all the teachers that were laid off.

I think that it is going to become more and more difficult to find teachers... they are going to start shying away from the schools because of this going on... I do not know and I will not accuse someone of it unless I am absolutely sure that the deed was done... but I can tell you this... to many are being arrested and accused... makes you wonder just how many are guilty... and it also brings up the question, if they did this why are teachers all of a sudden doing this!

I'm afraid for all kids in the school system. It's so scary and to think these kinda "LOW LIFES" exist in our school systems!! I have one going to midle school(Tulsa) & a grandaughter in elementary. Wish we didnt have to work so much to live so we could homeschool our families in order to protect them. Very sad & WRONG.Touch my girls/grandaughters & you will die. Just blows me away all this crap with children in our school system. Pray for our children.

Grandma..I agree with you completely. Just saw another story today where a felon out on bond, selling stolen items in a pawn shop, was arrested again for the 3rd time since June. Until our prisons stop being a revolving door for criminals and our judicial system is revamped and rid of these prancing panzies in their little black nightgowns(which are good hiding places for sex toys, booze, or nylon fishnet stockings)that talk and act like Truman Capote, we will have to endure their spineless policies, rights of the criminals, and early releases.

As the mom of an Owasso elementary student and another child who will be starting school in a couple of years, it worries be that my kids are going to be growing up in the public school system. Owasso has had several problems in the past. The earliest one I can remember was an alternative school teacher who had a relationship with a student and he ended up killing himself in HER HOUSE! Then they had a substitute teacher/assistant youth pastor at a local church get charged with molestation. A choir teacher was recently arrested for the same thing. Now this! It really makes a parent reconsider home schooling. It's scary out there. You can't trust anyone unfortunately!

What is the world coming to?We use to count on our teachers to take over teaching our kids once they got to school until the time they left school, but it's getting to the point to where kids will not trust a teacher at all.I pitty the teacher that does anything stupid or perverted to one of my kids, the only report they will need to file will be with the med ex. I think everyone should send this pervert a ELMO doll in prison to impress his roommates.

My younger brother was molested and preyed upon by a counselor at Wright Jr. High in the 60's. We didn't learn about it until many years later after the school was closed.

These incidences are very disturbing, and I agree that you should be able to send your child to school feeling safe. Even one instance is too many in our schools (or anywhere), but many of you are basically accusing all teachers of doing these terrible things when it is a relatively small number compared to how many teachers there are in the state. As the saying goes: "One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch."

You can pass all sorts of screening tests and psychological evaluations and still be a pervert. It's also not unusual, believe or not, for men to find young barely legal girls attractive. Most men don't go to far with their thoughts or fantasies while others become consumed by them. If they play into those desires, our kids are at risk. People who like to do lewd things with young teens are among us daily. They can look like normal husbands, brothers, teachers, etc. I have a feeling at first no one says anything and then after a few girls start feeling uncomfortable they are able to share what is going on. We all can remember having a teacher or two who just didn't seem right or made us feel a tad uncomfortable. We might not have said anything, but we did talk to our peers. Get enough peers together who agree some guy is a weirdo and they will tell their parents, so on and so forth. I don't think a teacher can get away with too much for too long before it becomes a news story. Talk to your kids about stuff, help them be able to talk to you in the case of a possible "something just isn't right" situation. This is what is going to help us more than any screening for teachers. There isn't a child molester test given upon graduation.
