Election Day was a tough one for ballot measures in the Claremont and Pomona unified school districts. Full Story

I'm disappointed in District 5's decision to elect Ginna Escobar for City Council. For someone who ran a dirty campaign which didn't focus on facts, it seems as if the public was easily swayed. Pomona has made some great accomplishments, while Ginna claimed the quality of life has decreased. We have new businesses, crime rate has gone down, etc. What more do you want? The only thing she focused on was dirty politics about the personal lives of the other candidates, rather than their accomplishments.

I was also very displeased with our firefighters campaigning for Ginna on the day of the election. Were they doing this on the clock? While she's arguing that a closure of a fire station would be dangerous for the residents of the area, the firefighters are out "hoofing it" door to door to sway the votes of the locals. I guess they're really not that necessary in the area, if they feel it's more important to campaign for Ginna than to ensure the safety of the residents.

What's even worse is the way that Ginna's lack of professionalism before the election. For further details check here: http://www.contracostatimes.com/california/ci...

I guess pulling down the competitor's signs is okay in her book. It's sad that Pomona decided to elect this person.

I was not impressed with Gina at the debate. I have seen Tim at many community events in the city. He does a lot for the children of Pomona. I guess you have to be mean spirted and corput to be on city council. Seriously, the residents of Pomona need to start investigating the city. I am sure they will find many violations of laws. It sounds like a Bell Council to me.

For district 3, the register office needs to be contacted about possible voter fraud. It does not make any sense that Carizosa was elected again. Are the residents of district 3 that dumb or just don't care.

Even though my email address says Upland, I do live in Pomona. The firehouse that was going to be closed is near my house. Many of the residents here do not want it close. They want to build the new firehouse by Yorba school. But yet a few years ago the city council did not want to put in a Walgreens because of the trucks that would be in and out to drop of merchandise.
But yet, it is ok to have a firetruck racing out at anytime of the day. The city council is heavily influence by the fire department. Unless more residents speak up, things will remain the same.

If any one has problems with Carizosa not helping them because they are not her "people", you need to report it. Call the ACLU or some other type of group that deals with racism. On several occasions I have heard her say at council meetings "my people" and she does not mean her district 3 residents she means from Mexico. No I am not racist, I just call them as I see it. She should help all people in district 3 regardless of where they were born.

Property taxes are sky high- It really makes me mad that schools always have money for endless improvements throughout the year, but as a residential property owner, taxes are so high that I cannot afford to make necessary improvements to my own property like the schools do...

Pomona utility tax : The city of Pomona should not get any tax increases until they eliminate their "sanctuary city" status...

PUSD : End illegal immigration enrollment and you will have manageable class sizes...Eliminate free lunches, ESL classes, etc.

All I can say is that I was fuming when I saw those ads on TV put on by the fireman's union.
If they have the time & money to fund these commercials every voting cycle there is something wrong. Rothman, Carizosa & Escodar benefited from these ad's....
It makes one wonder (but we already know) what promises have been made for the union's support.
FIREMEN... just put out the fires and stay out of the city council's business.
Rothman & his "girlfriends" need to go for Pomona to get better. Until then... watch the news headlines for a Bell type scandal... it's inevitable.

Apparently, some people did! We are still paying for Measure Y. This was not the answer. We need to attack the California Lottery and ensure it is doing what it was created to do. We don't need a jackpot starting at $7 million. Start it at $2 million and send the rest to the schools.

I totally agree!! Do you hear that CUSD!!!!! No funding for you, so what are you planning to do now? How are you going to raise the money for funding? CUSD: Claremont has 20% out of district students! If they want the privildge of a CUSD education STICK EM for the money as well. All these "luxuries" for the CUSD would have been sucked dry by the "out-of-towners" and how much are they putting in to system?

What a riot. How about if all the interdistrict students go back to their home districts and leave CUSD in declining enrollment? Perhaps we should and watch your students attend classes sizes at 30:1 with no supplies. We are the ones that bring in the ADA for the district. The revenue that is gained from inter-district transfers is what keeps YOUR kids in small class sizes. Look around at other districts in declining enrollment! Do you know about revenue limit and ADA? The parents of inter-district transfers also make donations to the district to help make up for various taxes. The community should be thanking all the inter-district children! We are the ones that generate revenue for the district so they aren't faced with declining enrollment on top of a budget crisis.

You just have to love the inane position of "I'm not voting for measure CL because 20% of CUSD attendance is not from Claremont". OK, what about the 80% that is from Claremont? Last I heard, the number is closer to 17% but 20% sounds much more dramatic.
