Full story: San Gabriel Valley Tribune

Great countries have adequate health care for all. The private insurance model that we have in the United States has failed for all except for a few overcompensated insurance executives.

Rod, I live south of the former nursery. Coyotes have roamed down here for years. I used to see them very early in the morning, down by Oakdale Mortuary. I carried a stick when I had to exit the car. They have been eating peoples pets for years.
Bob, I too, think Algebra was difficult. It was not mandatory when I went to school, but with the competition of other countries who are pumping out scholars who compete with our children for jobs, this country better do something. My kids were successfully taught. It was tough. I could not answer any questions they had! If you have a relative who is struggling, get him/her a tutor. Some college kids earn extra money this way. I highly recommend this.

Mr. Cameron, I must respectfully disagree with your opinion about the non-need for Algebra. While I'm a few decades behind you in age, I also took Algebra in both high school and college. Thankfully, my experiences were more positive than your experiences. And you say you had a very successful career without using Algebra and getting by with only arithmatic, fractions and percentages? So many people don't see the need for Algebra in their daily activities. True, solving quadratic equations or high-order algebraic functions isn't something we do in the grocery store or picking up our dry-cleaning. But the true benefit of Algebra isn't in solving equations or functions. The true benefit and value of Algebra is that it teaches us to Think, Problem Solve, and Exercise/Use our minds! I can guess there were countless times in your career where you had to use "brain power" to deal with problems and create solutions. Many times where "hard thinking" was the only thing that saved your job/career. I'm sure you didn't realize it at the time (none of us do), but that Algebra class gave you the Thinking Skills and Strong Mind to deal with those problems at work and come up with solutions. Algebra is one of the "unsung heros" in our lives. Something that is only noticable by it's absense. For those struggling with Algebra or other subjects, please get help! The extra efforts are well-worth all the future rewards.

I know John Tennant and he is a very nice guy. Never been very smart though and alwayys bought into the union nonsense, and thus follows the democrats even when they are obviously wrong. Pray that Obama fails with the so called public option, otherwise many people will be die unnecessarily at the hands of our government. Do you really want someone like Pelosi deciding on what care and treatment you should receive?

Some get it wrong. America is a GREAT NATION because it frees people to be responsible for their own lives and destiny. No dependence on government has made a people great. When there is a problem, set the people free to solve it and it will be both cost efficient and effective including health care. Competition unfettered by government meddling, is the best solution to most issues facing a free people. Last time I checked, Congress pretty much ignores the 10th Amendment and gets involved in issues not assigned to it by the Constitution which is a document to LIMIT the powers of the federal government. When all is said and done, there is still no free lunch.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Cancer

If you want to avoid having a row with someone, get out and about as much as possible today so you can work off all your nervous energy. If you stay in one place for too long you'll be in danger of becoming moody, and possibly even a right old crosspatch. You might also lose your temper with loved ones who are being bolshie or who have the audacity to disagree with you about something. Lighten up, Cancer!
