I want to thank Rick Roach for all of his efforts. I would also like to ask if any of our Orange County or City of Orlando elected officials attended this meeting as a show of support for the community. If not, why not?

I wonder how many of these parents voted for Amendment 1.
You get what you pay for.
I hope you spent that extra $240 wisely!

End all Middle and High School Sports Transportation. Local games only in which parents can drive their kids just like in the city leagues.

The first parent that talked about not sending their kids during FTE week is pretty stupid - once your kid is enrolled, it doesn't matter if they are in attendance on those "critical" days as she says. Once a child is enrolled and they are still on the roster during FTE week, then the school/district gets the money.

Seems that folks losing their government babysitting is an upsetting event.

You should protest at the State level, they are the ones that cut the funding.

When these middle schoolers who are looking for something to do when they are unsupervised while their parents try to earn a living break into your house while you're working. And, yes, there are after school programs for them, but the they are at an age where they think they know it all and just won't go.

I'm glad to see Parents finally Fighting for a good cause. It is long overdue. As for the FOOLS that think Amendment #1 had much to do with this....think again.....This is all about a state government that could not keep it's Greedy hands out of the People's coffers during the "good times". They spent and spent and then spent some more....thinking all the "wealth" from the illusionary Housing growth market was never going to end. Orange County as well as Orlando aided in the seeding of the illusion of the "Housing growth". They contributed to the frenzy of Buy a House you don't need or can afford, just so they could reap in all those impact fees and added Tax dollars. They gave some of your Tax dollars to their "Friends" in the Real estate and development fields so they too can influence the illusion. Now that the cloud of Greed has disappeared, there is nothing left but the victims, and our Schools are one of thos victims. Thank the Greedy elected ones for this one....not some silly amendment.

Don't get soccer mom riled up. She's your worst nightmare. Much like the scorned divorced woman, she will think of every way to attack. Keeping your kids home on days when attendance is needed for funding? Wow, that's a great idea...NOT! The district is making this change to save money and your best idea is to do something that will cost them money? Smart move soccer mom. Take away middle school sports? And we wonder why kids are fat. The district does make mistakes, but I don't think this is on of them. They are doing what's best. Just because it is inconvient for you, you hate it.

He could be one of the better teachers in the entire county for all you know. The district loses plenty of teachers each year. Considering many teachers were lined up to lose jobs, he just saved one.

He obviously doesn't care of the kids.

Easy, Barbara. This is an opinion page so every one gets to have one. This switch is going to be difficult and will save money. I do think they should have explored all possibilities prior to making this move, though.

Maybe he has his own kids to take care of and he can't make it on an OCPS salary? Maybe he wants his wife to stay at home to help raise their litte ones. I will admit, there are plenty of teachers out there that do not care for the kids, but lets not judge others if we do not know their circumstances.
