The shoeless caddie? Altamonte Springs man says he's youngster ...

Leroy Royal says he remembers that long-ago day when he fell several times under the weight of a golf bag because the loose soles of his tattered shoes tripped him up.

Maybe Daisy will invite him to join her and her boy Juan for lunch! Of course if he doesn't have any hate in him there won't be much in common. Maybe he can help Juan change the bulb in his Benz taillight.

Here we go again. The Orlando Sentinel doing a story based on hear-say . The young boy in the photo looks Tobe much older then 8 or 9 years of age. Why is this news. Beware, I am typing these comments barefoot.

What a shame. I was hoping this guy was going to rise above all this. Instead he comes out looking like a whiner who cant get over it just like Crazy Daisy Lynum.

There is no difference in the photo of a shoeless caddie on the wall of a golf club and the confederate flag hanging from a flagpole in South Carolina.

Tell Daisy to go pound sand! Never mind...I guess I just did!

Nobody of any worthwhile consideration cares what she thinks anyway!

We print a story about a man who we don't know his age, don't know if it is him in the picture, and have no way of even partially verifying what he is saying. Most of the article deals with his self told life story, in which he was repeatedly done wrong by the white man.

They should have asked him if he knows or is related to Queen Daisy. She has been blasted so badly for this hate mongering story she created without evening seeing the picture - who knows, she may have "found" this man herself to help her cause. It's not far fetched - look at her past record and think about it.

How about a picture of Steve Williams, Tiger Woods caddie hanging there next to that picture. Or Barak Oboma running for President. These people who live in the past should be ashamed of not looking at the present. The past is over!

I grew up in the residential area surrounding Dubsdread. A nice visual amenity...but the bottom line to me is this--maybe it isnt shot through with racism as it seems to have been in the old days, but golf generally is completely tied up with this comical (at least at Dubsdread) air of refinement and sophistication...elitism. That's setting aside the indefensible waste of water and over-use of freshwater-polluting fertilizer. Hell, it's a stretch to even call it a sport.

M Twain was right, golf is, at best, a nice walk wasted. That area would be put to immeasurably better use as a winding passive/multi-purpose public park. Too bad the rails-to-trails movement doesn't have a similar org for re-purposing golf courses.

I must be missing something. What's wrong with having a Confederate flag in South Carolina? I have one on my pickup!

History should never be removed because it offendes some. How will we ever remember. The story tellers leave us to our visions. Pictures let us see history through the eyes of the camera. Removing history because it offends some, is the same as saying it didn't happen.
Its a shame that this Black man can't view the picture as HIstory

Its issues like this that KEEP the race problems alive, the past is the past, look at where we are today, we are very close to having a black president, Tiger Woods, well, enough said on that, cmon, stop keeping this issue alive, especially people like Daisy, Jesse and Rev Al, it seems these three relish at racism, it also seems they thrive on it. Read on other race and etnic issues here in America, it wasnt just blacks that were discrimated against, The Irish, Italians, but you never hear an Irishman complaining about a " Paddywagon" Racism will stay alive as long as Daisy, Jesse and Rev Al are there to stir up the pot. And STOP comparing the Halocoust to Slavery, there is a HUGE difference between the two.

I feel that this gentleman was done totally wrong, he was discriminated against, was made to feel other than human. However, what changes if the picture is removed? It should remain if nothing else but to remind all of us about those days.

Those who are Cubans have no history prior to Castro. He erased it. There are those who say that the holocaust never happened. Photos are part of the past and the past should be preserved or we will never learn from it. I agree with the writer who said to put Tiger Williams' picture up next to the old one. Now that's history.

If it were me: Actually I am the one in the picture. I remember that day. None of us wore shoes, the black or white kids, because we had 2 pair. One for church, one for school. We all went barefoot and we hated shoes in the summer anyway. I liked the extra money I could earn and it was better than doing yard work or a paper route. Yes, the white men were sometimes rude to me, but they were rude to the white boys too, that is how it was back then. Kids were treated differently if you were poor. I'm glad things have changed, it made me see another side of life I wouldn't have seen, and I worked hard to escape that life to become sucessful and now white boys caddy for me. I treat them better, because of my experience, I am a more compassionate man. I have seen the changes in this country, and although it is not perfect, we are getting there. When I was a boy, I never dreamed someday we would have Conde Rice, Colin Powell, and Barak Obama in such high political places. History is history, and I'm proud my people have fought to overcome and continue to be proud of where we started and where we are going.

2008 and people are still crying descrimination?! The past is gone. Of course we won't forget. But let's move on and stop dividing people with all this "history talk."
