Clairton Garbage Bill

Seems the city of Clairton once again might be pissing into the wind. They say the price of the garbage contract has increased 4.3% for 2012.

That would make the new yearly cost per address $150 per year. With their math, they wanted to keep the yearly cost the same,$36/qtr x 4 =$144.

They also say that yearly billing saves them in printing, postage, and personnel costs.
Some of that is good. Eliminating personnel would be the best. What DO THEY DO ANYWAYS? But, there is no payment plan. Some senior citizens, which there are many in clairton, will be hard pressed to make this lump sum payment. What about this? They let Ford pay on a payment basis for property taxes through a separate slush fund that is illegal because it is banking and the account draws interest. What happens with the interest. Wonder what the State Atty Genl would say. Don't go to the county DA

So, they came up with a program that says if you pay by June you pay $130 for the year and save almost 10%,$14.($144-14=$130)
After July you pay $158. 158+130=288, 288/2 =$144. How they came about their reasoning keeping the cost at $144, same as before. YET the contract increased 4.3%. Mmmmmm.

How much money were they making then on garbage fees. Seems by these numbers they were making at least $14 +/- on each address. Maybe that is why they DO NOT GO AFTER WELL OVER $500,000 in garbage fees that are delinquent. Suppose there are some by city employees, their relatives, AND city administration including some on council?

So, these boobs think that by this method they will at least break even. WRONG DUFUS!

Those that don’t pay their garbage bills don’t care what the penalty. They haven’t paid their bills for years, some decades, and won’t change now.
Those that do pay will most likely pay before June,$130. I believe this will cost the city more than they will save on postage, printing and personnel time. Sure would like to see the numbers.
Can anyone provide those numbers? Maybe a Right To Know is in line. Definately for those who don't pay their garbage bills including some on city council.

There are two new council persons, which many people thought would change the ways this city runs. My question to them is. Why are YOU not going after delinquent garbage bills that amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars. FACT! Get a Right To Know citizens.

While we are on the subject WHY are you (council) not going after people that are delinquent on property taxes including Julian and Ford who sit on council? Sure would like to know the answer to these. Oh. Almost forgot. Some of these clowns even owe income taxes to the city. School District needs more investigation and you citizens pay them the highest in taxes. Yet you keep voting these boobs into office that all they do is spend money, raise taxes, and graduate illiterate children. Hell, the people in Clairton are to dumb keep on electing the same dufusses! PA Legislature is trying to put a stop to that helping you handicap folks with no increases in taxes unless it is put on the ballot and the people vote on it, NOT IRRESPONSIBLE BOOBS ON THE SCHOOL BOARD.

I agree with most everything. The new council mbers just got in office a month ago. Its going to take a little time to show progress. But when you still have julian and ford they will try to sabotage anything. Julian owes taxes on a property that rents to a hot dog vendor on 837. Ford owes the city THOUSANDS. I think the new people will make things right. Next election the other 2 need to go.
