Yes, it's gone but anything is better than people going on and on about the mill.

Sach;s was on the corner of Elm and Hershelroth's bakery was next to the cleaners run by Mrs. McAtee.

We were on 4th street and Division. We bought the store in 1971. My Uncle bought Turek's (Triangle Dairy) around 1974 or so.
H&H brings back many fond memories. I still remember the smell of that place. I spent alot of time there in the late '80s / early '90s. I wish I had all the money I spent there on pinball, tobacco, & iced tea!

I grew up in Wilson in the late 60's and 70's. Spent many winter nights sled riding down the hill behind the pony field in the park. Hanging out on the steps at St. Paulinus school after setting pins at Wilson Lanes. Playing on the tank in the park. Remember Yocco's gas station on no. 7th. Rondonelli's (Spiders father) barber shop on State St. Joe's corner store on No. 6th. Whities meat market on State St.

I didn't know that Rondonelli barber was Spiders father. I never got the connection. I remember him giving hair cuts at you home when he closed his shop. I got my very first hair cut there.

Is this John B? If so, I heard you became quite proficient with the martial arts. It is very good to hear a success story from a local Wilson boy. Does Debbie remember that incident at the lodge? That was my very first kiss (3rd grade I believe).
If this is John, how is Debbie? Would she mind posting so I can reminisce with her and possibly find out about some of our mutual acquaintances? Please ask her if she would post.
I enjoyed your post. I stay in touch with my cousins through my dad (Johnny talks to him quite frequently) and through the funerals that are becoming more frequent (unfortunately).

I spoke to Rich Lattanzi before the primary and told him about the concerns I have about my area (the hill, the bad part) he said he does not spend much time in that area because he did not know how he would be received. I think if you are going to be the mayor you should campaign in the WHOLE city... So, my expectations for the new mayor are not very high.

It's time to seperate Wilson from Clairton and secure employment, funding, and other resources. Being tied to a dying Clairton hasn't helped Wilson since the 1970's.

Why should a white man waste time campaigning in a black area when there is a black candidate on the ballot?

Because this is not a white/black issue. It's exactly that kind of thinking that will cause this city to remain in it's stagnant condition.

The sad fact is that it IS perceived as a White/ black issue. Or, more accurately, a voting issue of those with an education or years of employment and civic pride and support of the law versus poorly educated, crime ridden, welfare using or mostly unemployed persons............ I strongly suggest talking with your Wilson supporters and politicians about breaking the connection with Clairton and Clairton doing the same. Make county and other alliances and you may both do better as this long term Great Depression continues.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Cancer

If you're busy with a last-minute Christmas shopping trip it will be easy to lose track of how much you're spending, particularly if you're in a panic and desperate to tick off every name on your list. However, you might be in for a nasty shock later on when you tot up the massive amount of money that you parted with. So try to keep a running total in your head or stick to a strict budget for each gift.
