I'm surprised that Amex approved all those charges without speaking to the customer. I bought some expensive jewelry and had to verify who I was by phone to get the transaction approved. That was Visa, maybe Amex is less diligent.

I wonder what his credit limit is? Wow, that's a lot of money.

Certainly a dignified way to celebrate one's college graduation-a trip to a strip club that cost two year's room and board.

I'd say this kid didn't get all the education his daddy paid for. He got the rest of it in one night.

He essentially paid for a master's degree in one night....maybe even got his doctorate in skin esthetics or something.

This again shows the downfall of Family values in this country. Celebrating a graduation in a Strip Bar shows a lot of class. Too bad it's all LOW!!!!! Shame on the parents and their upbringing and taught values!!!!

I wouldnt pay them, let American Express get stuck with the bill. Let them file suit and settle for 25 cents on the dollar or let them have a judgment against you. If federal express doesnt pay the strip joint let the strip joint sue him. Anyway, it was probably cheap champagne that you can buy at Publix for 29 dollars a bottle.

24 years old and daddy is still fighting his battles.
Why not try the novel approach and tell his son since he is an adult, start acting like one.

As "Oh Please" said, seems strange. I have had an Amex for years, and they are genearlly really picky, if you spend outside of your normal spending habits they want to talk to you. So unless this kid regularly spend over $50K and one time, they would have flagged the account. Oh and as a general rule AMEX normal cards don't have Credit Limits, based on your spending habits.

Really the club should have known better, you are gonna have some trouble with a $54,000 bill, unless you are dealing with someone who is either famous or an heir to some billionaires fortune.

I can't believe anyone with a college degree would walk into a sleaze joint and hand the owner a blank check. AMEX is dangerous with its no limits and pay now provision. Wouldn't have happened with normal credit card limits, especially coupled with the unusual activity. Good street lesson for the kid.

So let me get this straight, a drunk idiot requests $2000 bottles of champagne, consumes them and SIGNS for them, now it's the clubs fault??

The fact that this guys PARENTS are involved is very telling. This dude is an ADULT, yet he has his parents fighting on his behalf contesting a BILL at a strip club??

I think the larger lesson is learned by the father. For crying out loud, why the hell do you give your kid (regardless of age), a limitless credit card to go ANYWHERE?! Let alone a Strip Club. If you wanted to put a cap on the partying, take out a $600 cash advance on the card, and give him that. Those clubs are notorious for overcharging.

By my calculations anyway, if the champagne was as high as the club manager says ($2000 per bottle), I only get $38K, where's the other $15K come from? Was it Champagne, or the Champagne Room?? I don't know what goes on in there, but I do know what DOESN'T go on there. Yeah right.

The kid did what kids do, the father is the moron.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Libra

Don't try to do too much at once today or you'll disappear up you know what! You're all fingers and thumbs, accident-prone and things start breaking. It won't help if you're trying to concentrate at work and a certain chatterbox doesn't know when to shut up. Ask them to be quiet but try not to sound shrewish.
