Pretty sure it was the teens who run wild in Cicero at all hours of the night that are responsible for this situation.

If these kittens/cats were pets just like family WHY were they outside unsupervised for such a time period that someone or someones could do this?

Sad, sad story and I hope ALL animal lovers will realize if your pet is family your pet deserves to be INSIDE with the family and supervised at all times!!

FBI profiles show that this type of animal cruelty is usually the first identified step in the life of a serial killer. The person(s) who did this need to be found and helped/stopped before they "graduate" to children.

Also, pet owners need to take better care of their "family", it is not safe for them outside without supervision.

About 20 years, there was a couple of teens in the Ravenswood/71st and Keystone area that tried to kill a litter of kittens by beating them in a bag. I remember hearing about it and thought "what a bunch of sickos". Now, I bet these losers are parents (God forbid) and probably teach their kids to be like that. I swear, I think we are going to have to give people a license to reproduce! Yea, I know, I sound like a Nazi, but this has to stop!!!

Perhaps if they were indoor cats this would not happen and you would not have to worry? So sorry for your loss.

The story clearly shows the cats were outside unsupervised so HAD THEY BEEN LOVED AS FAMILY MEMEBERS AS THE LADY IN THE STORY STATED

THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN INSIDE SUPERVISED WITH THE FAMILY!!!

When I was a kid my cat was an indoor outdoor cat. He prowled the neighborhood as did all of my neighbors cats. No big deal. We all knew who the cat belonged to they were "fixed" and had shots.
I guess about 15 years ago I noticed people stopped letting cats out. About 3 weeks ago we got our first kitten in years. The thought of letting it out never crossed our minds. Just a stupid observation

We as kids use to run the neighborhoods and not fear anything. Times have changed and people are well aware of the dangers towards animals and children. It's bad enough children are not safe, now family pets.

I hate people who hurt defenseless cats and dogs. My cats are indoor only cats, as that is my choice, but that doesn't mean that any cat that is outside deserves to be tortured and killed. Quit being so mean to the poor people who lost these pets.

Geez, "Nosey", settle down a bit, okay? It just looked like this person was being spiteful about the animals being let outside and chances are, the owners aren't reading this forum to hear her condolences, which, to me, sounded like..."Sorry to hear you have breast cancer, maybe if you didn't have a couple of abortions and smoked, you wouldn't have had to endure chemo and a mastectomey", or "sorry about your miscarriage, if you hadn't have drank coffee in the first trimester...". Do you see it now? Condolences with unsolicited advice are always in poor taste, even on a free-for-all, anything goes forum

Thank you, I was wondering if I'm the only one that saw that the post telling the people "sorry your cats died, should've kept them inside" was inappropriate!

Well, let's see ((tryin to smile while I type so it's not mistrued as being to off base or mean))

Had the 16 yr old cat and the kitten been kept inside we would not have this topic to discuss about pet owners (especially those whom claim to love their pet(s) like family) upset that their family member was found slaughtered by some nut job running the streets unsupervised as these cats were allowed to do. The cold facts can be a hard pill to swallow but I feel for the neglectful pet owners as I do for the parents who throw their kids in the trunk to joy ride, as I do for the ones who leave their children locked in a home so they can go party, as I do for the ones who cry OH GOD my teen is a good child as he/she is being hauled away for being a little delinquent. All could be prevented IF people were more responsible.

I'm sorry the cats died such a horrific death, I am not as compassionate about the owners feelings becuase they were part of the problenm that allowed this to happen.

why don't you shut the fu-- up about leaving cats outside. We should be more worried about the sick people that did this. It could be kids they do this to next time. Are kids supposed to be inside also?

It's funny how this made the news but the lady who shot her dogs in the head didn't... About 3-4 weeks ago a lady in my Camby neighborhood went nuts. She was going to committ suicide, and didn't want anyone to get her dogs, so she shot all three dogs in the head. After she shot the dogs dead, she chickened out and didn't kill herself. She drove back home and took a bunch of pills. The police and ambulence were there. I bet nothing happens to her either.

How can people treat animals like that?????????? Sad Sad Sad..........

Unfortunately there is not just punishment for these sick individuals. My heart goes out to the individuals who lost their companions.

No, kids should not be kept inside, but just like animals they should be supervised so we don't have to worry about the culprits grabbing any more (family members) pets. Imagine taking responsibilty for those who trust you to keep them safe!! WOW now thats a thought huh??

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Aries

Your emotions have the upper hand, making you rather fiery and fervent. That's great if you're hoping for a passionate encounter with you-know-who, because you'll be really hot stuff. However, in non-sexual situations you could become somewhat tempestuous and irritable, especially if you suspect that things aren't going the way you want.
