Hunt down all the hawks in the area and KILL THEM! What? That's what is done about alligators when irresponsible owners let their mutts down near lakes to get grabbed.

Ummm, I did not see where anyone said they wanted to hunt down the hawks and kill them.

The pet sitter has a good idea about putting wire mesh across the top of the fence.

This is nature and you can't blame nature.

I hope the owner of the dog does not plan to sue, because it could not be helped. Again, it's nature at play.

Briana, I think the previous poster was being sarcastic. Here in Florida, whenever an alligator kills a small dog there is usually a public outcry about killing the alligator. Hope this makes sense!

If the Doggie day care people knew there were large birds of pre in the area, then why was the dog left alone for any period of time?

Maybe it was carried away by a strong breeze...
After all, it is a Papillon (ie Butterfly) and only weighed 3 pounds.
Ironically enough, a few years ago another "Papillon" made news (and eventaully was made into a film) by escaping from Devil's Island...
I would also make sure that there aren't any Vietnamese eateries close by...
They could be serving Filet of May today...

Hey Stevie,
Let us know the next time you hear of a poodle on crack robbing a daycare worker or a tweaked out hamster raping a kid...
Pets aren't the problem...
It is we, the human animal, that is the problem.

Hawks in my neighborhood snatch cats and squirrels all the time. It's natural for them. They gotta eat too.

Birds of prey are every where. Even in cities. Anyone's pet could be a prey item, even in the back yard.

Little dogs are always getting beat up and hurt.... thats why you should get a real dog, a big one that is not tiny and scared of other animals (but can still be nice to people)

Then you wonder why my people always have had larger dogs? A larger dog is not mistaken for a breakfast snack.
