"8 days at Shaddddy Gap--
Peggy Ann could not get back Because the mountain man took her away And 8 days she had to stayyyy Pegggyyy Annn" My dad was actually part of a crew that went looking and searching. I was 7 years old then and couldn't understand all the specific details about this. I do remember the song as I listed above and remember watching the movie. Beings this was 42 years ago, I'm not sure how old Peggy Ann is today, but I'm sure she'll have memories to share. Too bad I live in TEXAS to where I can't come to the festival to hear about that incident of her life. Thank God that she was spared and lives today to tell about it. Hope others will be sensitive to this ordeal. |

I remember the incident clearly and read the book also and visited the area afterward. It had everyone in the area afraid to be out at night!

I never knew about this, well that I remember anyhow. What movie was there about this?
I remember about the nurse from Waynesboro hospital that got kidnapped and murdered by two guys. I think there was a book about that too. |

Yep Debbie Kline, that is the one I was thinking of. I remember a book about that and how some psychic lead to her discovery or something. Don't know how much of that is true but I think that is about what happened. |

The books are "Deadly Pursuit" and "Missing Person", by Bob Cox and Ken Pipher (coroner), who were both employees of the PO at the time. Cox won a pulitzer prize for his coverage.
I was a soph in college, and drove up to Shade Gap to watch the manhunt unfold. Crazy--everyone running around with rifles, drinking coffee, and hoping to get a clear shot. |

Missing Person is the books title - happened in 1976. She was murdered by Ron Henninger and Richard Dodson.

Ken Pieffer a local reporter for the Record Herald was co-author with Robert V. Cox. Deadly Pursuit was the Shade Gap kidnapping books title. I believe Ken had alot to do with it too.

I know this has nothing to do with this issue, but, it is about missing girls. I remember years ago reading about a girl who was on a bike marathon on Shippensburg dissappeared along the Mainsville Road, and a year later, another girl on a bike marathon from Shippensburg dissappeard also. I think the one girl`s last name was Fahnestock. Does anyone remember this, and were these girls ever found, or is this just a cold case?

Check You Tube "Eight Days at Sha-de-gap"-Russ Edwards (1967).Note the strange black disc with a big hole in the middle. |

did that movie come out on tv around the late 80's early 90's? I think I actually watched it. |
|||
|
I was told Bicycle Pete was not the person that shot my mom , because the guy that shot her also took her to the hospital , Pete did not drive .
Was it a copy cat ? |
||||
|
Or is he sstill out there ?
|

The title was- "Cry in the Wild:The Taking of Peggy Ann." Megan Follows played Peggy Ann. |

Yep, Ive read Missing Person. My mother was a photographer for the P.O. back then, with Chris Shatzer... The images in that book and the predictions made by Dorothy Allison were insane. |

The kidnapper, William Hollenbaugh, was shot and killed by a PA State Trooper at the Rubeck residence along SR522 near Fort Litleton. |
