Depends on the state. In some states, subsequent marriage does not change the illegitimate status of the child.

Hmmm... Probably should have done that about 6 years ago - before they had a child.

I'm with the "Caffeinater": What's with the negativity? Dave's alright in my book!
I'm still in the Kurt Russell/Goldie Hawn corner. Other than Church and State (both institutions that are often found to be horribly corrupt when the layers of hypocrisy are pulled back), does anyone with a thinking brain and no axes to grind actually think it matters these days if two people are "contractually" joined in matrimonial "bliss". And who actually even thinks "*******d" anymore? Whoah! Time to quit playing your banjos, leave your sister alone, and come out of the mountains. The times changed a long time ago!

Very happy for Dave and his new wife.. who cares when and if it ever happened. Just happy that they should both know by now that they are compatable.:) Which is more than most people can say when only knowing each other for a couple of years and go and get married and have kids. You know doing it the "right" way .

Is this the same woman he "knocked up" with his kid. I think that was the jargon he used when describing Bristol Palin and her boyfriend on his lame show. And only dopes like you Smilin Jack think it doesn't matter if there's a father around. Look at the Black experience--80% of births out of wedlock--and they're a real shining example of success aren't they? Letterman is a has-been and needs to retire.
I guess the allusion to "Deliverance" really got under your skin, huh Natty? Maybe hit a little too close to home? Just apologize to your sister and try to make it up to her.

To compare David Letterman to the "Black Experience" showcases your impressive critical thinking capabilities. A guy earning millions every year who is faithful to his girlfriend and is a father to his child in all ways but the "legal contract" is nothing BUT an excellent example to those out there who are looking for one.

Trying to tie a guy's decision to marry his girlfriend to some political axe their grinding is a common tactic for those who don't really care if there is any truth to the comparison. But good news, you can go down to your town's bar tonight and sucker-punch some unsuspecting tourist because you don't like the color of his shirt, or how he drinks his beer. They've got a contest for folks like you: they're called the "Darwin Awards".

Does anyone else feel this story was a bit lacking? Did Dave do this on a whim? Anyways, congrats Dave. God luck against Conan, because that's the show I'll be watching. As long as they don't make Conan tone down his antics.

And, I suppose, you had the $50,000 wedding...and now you're where? In the condiment aisle with your co-worker trying to get a minute together?

Why the hell do you think that the more money you spend on a wedding... the more successful a marriage will be? Who taught you that?

And what constitutes your idea of romance?? The more that watch..the more romantic??? What?

Are you a porn star?... or just 12 years old?

I should have known a gal named Micki would have no clue. And I should have saved my breath!

You're pretty full of yourself Smilin Jack, but you kind of missed the point--and just because this washed up comedian has millions doesn't make him a good father. My point was the guy is a hypocrite--he takes a shot at Palin's daughter on his show, trying to be cute, and he's guilty of the same--he produced an illegitimate kid. A bas--ard. Why don't you get off your pedestal, you don't sound like any whiz kid.
I do believe we heard you once before...but thank you for sharing again.

Yawn....

And to call the previous poster "Smilin Jack"????... is ANOTHER reason why no one listens to you.

Have some respect...for SmilinInSpokane, David Letterman and his bride, and yourself.

I'm almost Dave's age and never felt the need to get married, but, for some reason, when I heard about his marriage on the news, it cheered me up and I thought, good for him! I did live with one guy for many years, and though he wanted to get married, I wasn't interested...'course we never had kids. I remember a discussion a few years ago on Dave's show in which someone was telling him that he'd have to get married when his kid started going to school 'cause the other kids would tease his son otherwise. For you people who don't watch his show, like many dads with their first kid he is sappy in love with the boy, who's about the right age to start school, so I suspect that has something to do with this.

Letterman is a piece of shit. I was always under the impression that he ate his own sperm. Lasko is almost as ugly as he is. The kid looks retarded, but maybe he wont turn out to be a left-wing turd like his daddy. Bruce Willis is a piece of shit, too.

Who gives a S#@T? Who gives a F&%K?

Letterman is a very weak uber liberal who can't wipe his own A55!

Hey dou-che bag, give some of your millions to the injured troops who protect your right to make an a55 of yourself by slamming McCain/Palin.

The nurturing Moon in your eleventh house of friends and associates, possibly brings a mentor into your life. In this case, you may be faced with financial or sexual issues as Neptune and Chiron shake things up in your eighth house of sex, money, and power... if the stakes are high, you need to think twice. The Moon enters Gemini as the day goes on, causing you to look within.
