a muslim from pakistan in a christian church full of money. what do you expect him to do?

a great way to disrupt the infidels religion and fund jihad.

i bet the FBI can track the money all the way back to al queda.

and we wonder why we cant keep terrorists off airplanes!

this is the cost of americans being called racist and applying common sense to everyday situations. profiling, based on specific indicators or actions works.

The minute the article detailed how he was from Pakistan and had been another religion before converting to Christianity I knew that's where the comments would stay focused.

Changing the subject, isn't that an awful lot of money on hand for a church? That's the first thing I thought but I guess the Pakistan comments really took people's mind off that detail.

For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? For what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Mark 8:36-37)

The treacherous will be caught by their own greed" (Proverbs 11:6)

Better is the poor who walks in his integrity, than he who is crooked though he be rich"
(Proverbs 28:6)

“"Treasures"

Every day, according to one survey, Americans buy an average of 3,972,603 movie tickets; 1,683,835 songs and albums from online resources; 1,650,000 DVD rentals from Netflix; 978,030 bags of Orville Redenbacher’s Gourmet popcorn; 568,764 Titleist golf balls; 443,650 large fries at Burger King; 160,968 bottles of Absolut Vodka; 7,500 Samsung LCD TVs; and 60 Ford Mustangs on eBay. It’s clear from this incomplete list that many consumers are spending money on things that have temporary stamped on them. Jesus, however, says that we should use our resources to acquire things that have eternity written all over them.

In Matthew 6, He identifies two types of treasures. The first are the ones accumulated on earth. These treasures are vulnerable to all kinds of decay and theft. They are the goods that we should not be going for. The alternative is treasures in heaven. Now Jesus was not saying we can buy our way into heaven. He was simply calling us to simplify our lives and leverage our time and resources for the sake of people in need (Matthew 19:21; 1 Timothy 6:17-19). When we, with pure motives (Matthew 6:1-4), give up our lives and resources for the marginalized, we’re “storing up” treasures in heaven.

How can we determine where our treasure is and where our hearts are? I believe the following questions can help us: What occupies my thoughts and daydreams? What do I fret about the most? Apart from my immediate family, who or what do I most dread losing? What criteria do I use to evaluate others? What would make me most unhappy to be without?

Let’s prayerfully consider the resources we’re using and pursuing, making sure that our stuff is being used to bless others and glorify God.

He converted to Christianity? Apparently the conversion was incomplete.

I agree with others, they need to follow the money to find out exactly where it is going.

The only business that I know that receives boat loads of cash week in and week out and never has to pay income tax. Not saying that all churches are currupt but, I'm sure this happens alot more than we will ever hear of.

Does this surprise any of you? This is not, and has never been a place of woeship.
It's a money making venture. These mega-churches that come complete with coffee shop and souvenir stores are just an abomination.

How much money does the pastor himself skim off the top??

Give me a break

And your point is.......? This is about someone who has embezzled money. The blog's purpose is to discuss the incident, we don't need to statistics.

Not all churches are corrupt and to say that it is a so called "Mega church" is far from the truth. This church is actually a great church and not money hungry at all. They have a lot of members and members tithe like with ANY church. The only difference is this church actually uses tithe money for good and not to make a buck. To imply the actual pastor might be taking money too is ridiculous, shame on you. The truth is, a man deceived many into to trusting him with his position on staff and he obviously was not the person he claimed to me. As the article states, he was a person who was hard working and dilligent on the outside so who would have know he would have done such a thing.

Please tell me how a "converted" Muslim was allowed to be in charge of church money. Pastor Hibbs has repeatedly and I mean repeatedly stated that the Koran gives Muslims the right to lie to get what they want. And he allowed this man to the church admin. This is completely nuts..........Wonder how much of our money ended up in the hands of
terrorist orangizations???

AMEN "JUST SAYIN". Pastor Jack is a man of integrity! He has a heart after Jesus and that's why it's such a large church. And like the other poster said...He never really converted now did he? There was no repentence for his sin. I pray for his salvation. It's all very disheartening. But it will seperate the wheat from the chaft and at least the real one's who are trusting in the Lord will still remain.

MMiller...The same way Judas was allowed to walk amoung Jesus and the disciples! He hung around the church long enough, learned Christianese, copied real Christian prayers and pretended.

Calvary Churches do not have in place check and balance protocols. The Calvary in Pomona (El Camino) has a high degree of nepotism and family members are never accountable for their actions. Many church members have left the church for reasons of pure greed by the Administrators. Calvary concept is good but administration sucks.
