After the huge riot at CIM in Aug, they've been moving those inmates to the Stark facility. What will happen to all of them now that the facility will become a place for the mentally ill?

Can the State really determine which prisoners are mentally ill? Do they make their determination to just shut the prisoner up and stop asking for pain medication?

They have a psychologist interview an inmate for 20 minutes then go to a Keyhea hearing and determine the inmate is mentally ill because he is asking for pain medicationm and is suffering from out of control severe diabetes and Hepatitis C and continual nausea.
Then they force inject contraindicated psychotic medication. If you ask me this seems like the State is commiting a criminal act, not healthcare.

Is this the type of prison system you want to keep supporting with your tax dollars?

In a perfect world I suppoe we would not even need prisons - but obviously we do not live in a perfect world. Why does it cost so much to keep someone behind bars? I wonder why we have so many people incarcerated and then when they get out they go right back to prison.

The State of California needs mental hospitals but these should not be administrated by CDCr. The worst abuses, preventable deaths and reports of torture, are happening to the mentally ill, who shouldn't be in prison in the first place. The worst thing possible is to try and punish sick people into being well.

It can't be done. In 1850 Dorothea Dix and the Quakers organized to take the mentally ill out of prisons and jails and put them into healing homes and hospitals. We don't need to be paying high-priced guards who prosecute and bully around the mentally ill in prison. CDCr is a black hole of waste and we, the people, need to take away their occupation of our state legislature.

Prisons are the holy grail of the right wingnuts, they do nothing to prevent or reduce crime. People come back from them much sicker than before incarceration. About 80,000 people are imprisoned for non-violent crimes, let them go. Don't build more. End this barbaric practice now.

Why would Chino fight having a hospital? Does it matter whether these are physical or mental ailments? Do you not care about your fellow human beings?

Does the state think this late "bandaid" will assuage the Federal court? I'm happy to see buildings no longer used for juveniles get recycled. There are very old, frail, very sick inmates who could use a little tender care in their old age. Living in triple bunks and needing help to get in and out of bed from other inmates is what we've done to them right now. But they won't even qualify for this Chino hospital, because they're not mentally ill. Where will the CDCR put them?

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Virgo

Someone is easily angered today, and you'll want to tiptoe around them at every opportunity. They might be on the defensive and imagine that you're getting at them all the time, or they could be quick to point the finger of blame straight at you. It won't be an easy day, but try not to get swept up in the emotional dramas that are swirling around you. They'll only exhaust you.
