Hi Joe,

I think you're referring to the Stop Parkside Rally. That's only one small sliver of the opposition to this project which is also opposed by:

Asheville City Council
Buncombe County Commissioners
Asheville Citizen-Times
Asheville Downtown Association
Mountain Voices Alliance
Asheville Preservation Society
Asheville Tree Commission
PARC
Asheville Democracy For America
Buncombe County Democratic Party
Coven Oldenwilde
Western North Carolina Alliance
Pack Square Conservancy

I agree that more individuals opposed to this project ought to demonstrate their opposition, but there's no lack of outrage.

It's up to the County Commissioners to do something. David Gantt has made it clear that he doesn't have two more votes to put a stop to the project. If folks are wondering who to contact about this, I'd start with Carol Peterson, Nathan Ramsey, and David Young.

Maybe the reason that only 200 people are showing up to protest the development is that there are only 200 people in the city and county who oppose it. Any type of nice looking building on the property would certainly be an improvement to the scrap metal piles that keep showing up on public property incorrectly labeled as "art".

Ashevill is on the brink of developing into a very prosperous city that will encompass education, health care, culture, economy, and industry or it will become a slum, haven for gangs and a place to be avoided.
It may be political suicide for some but they will do everyone in WNC a favor.
