What is going on with Lott police? Where are they all going? Why can't the city keep good officers? The last officer was nice, haven't seen him in a while.

I had to comment on the piece about the Lott Police. THe reason why we can't keep(Rosebud or Lott)officers is because these cities dont pay crap and cant afford to mant times because of the size of the areas. But the last officer in Lott wasn't by any means nice. HAHAHA..The last officer that was nice in Lott was about 10 years ago. I'm sorry but Lott leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Everytime i roll through Lott the cops are always messing with someone, even if you arent breaking the law. THis is just my 2 cents!

guess it depends on which 'last officer' you're talking about. the only full time guy they have now is an older guy. he's very unprofessional and always messes with anyone. The one i'm talking about was the fat white guy. him and this other guy with glasses are the nicer officers, but i don't see either of them anymore. they helped out a bunch. Just cause you see a cop on the side of the road doesn't mean they're giving tickets. the number of actual tickets written in Lott has dropped a ton since the skinny black cop left...i know that for a fact! Watch them some time, you'll see them walk back without a ticket book!

Lott is a good place: as far as CRIME. I agree with Miss Rosebud85. It is a herrific place, but it is a very safe place. Also, judgement isn't the way to go if they are trying to make Lott and Rosebud a better place. Jesus doesn't favor judgment too well. Respect is the BIGGEST key. I am a 1st hand witness of the youth in both Lott and Rosebud. I'm 15, and I know us young teens and kids CAN make a big difference in these towns and the school. Maybe if we buckle down and get to buisness...we may even be able to make a difference in the world. The Impossible is always Possible if you just believe, my mom always says to me and my brother.
Thank you for your time.

Lol? The police chief in Lott at the moment IS not worth a darn and works in both marlin and Lott and is under investigation in both i believe.....not really sure what world you are living in.I have no record not so much as a speeding ticket and i know the falls county police, sheriff's dept and justice system all together has MAJOR flaws in them. For instance did any of you know that IF someone accuses you of doing something they can lock you up without investigation till your court date or you make bail? This is as long as it is a misdemeaner and not a felony...felony requires investigation prior to. This is a HUGE flaw if you think of it this way. Someone says you did something.....you get locked up till bail or court THEN while you sit waiting your house gets robbed by the very person who framed you? YES this is reality a friend of mine recently had exactly this happen. Simply put criminals have more privledges then aw respecting citizens... I mean why can a criminal get a degree for free while waiting on death row but poor honest or middle class honest people can not? The entire justice system is so flawed....and in falls county just simply scary...and as far as Lott being safe i have a cousin who in a grand total of 6 months has had3 types of vandilism done to his car and when he told the officer who did it....the kid who did it was NEVER confronted about it.And the kid just seems to vandilize his property again every time my cousin confronts the kids father simply saying "Hey your kid is doing this could you kinda talk to him cause i can not afford any more tires or windows". The Lott police need to get their rear ends off that highway and protect the town and quit trying to make a quota to look better when in fact they are not (at this moment) worth the charmin ultra they wipe their backsides with.

i agree with tyree lott is a nice place. i just graduated from rosebud-lott in 2008 and i have lived there four 6 years and i had never had any problems. i will admit there are a few problems that could be fixed but for the most part lott is one of the nicest places i have ever been in even if there are cracks in it, but think in what city isnt there cracks in?

I love how things get so twisted online where nobody can dispute false accusations. I'm gonna dispute these now.

I used to work for Lott PD and here are facts! 1) there are no quota's. It's illegal, and has never been told to officers that they must go write "X" number of tickets per day or anything...which would be a quota. 2) of the 8 months I was on duty there, I only ever received 5 calls for service from the citizen of Lott. I KNOW for a fact there were crimes taking place, but the Police CANNOT investigate or help what they are not being reported. It's the citizen's fault for some of this crime continuing. 3) as for sitting on the highway all day...after driving through the entire city (maybe 20mins total) what else should be done for the next 7-11 hours on shift that is being paid for by the citizens of Lott? How about slowing the people down who don't even live in Lott who don't care if people need to cross the highway?? I can do that and still drive through Lott several times throughout a shift, and did so all night long. I'm not sure how this is wrong. Issuing of tickets...well I know exactly how many tickets are written and I know there are 3x more cars being pulled over that were NOT issued tickets. Look at it logically before you judge. 1 officer working 10hrs a day easily has the capability of stopping say 20 cars. Multiply that by 4 days/week is 80 cars, by 4 weeks a month is 240. Now...4 officers at that rate is 960 cars a month. The highest ticket count in a month during the past 2 years for Lott has been 289 tickets, which was in August last year. WOW...where did the other tickets go that we are reportedly taking in? They're called 'Warnings'... So please get stuff straight before judging.

as for Lott23765's comments...here is reality.

Yes he works for both. There is nothing against that and both cities allow it. Chiefs are always being looked at for various reasons. They are the top of the department...responsible for everything from the maintenance of the vehicles, to the uniform on any officer's body, down to what an officer says on a traffic stop. Put yourself in his position...someone you works for slips up and cusses at a person in the street. YOU as chief didn't do it or tell him to do that...but you as chief are held liable. Cut him some slack before you judge...it's part of his job.

As for sitting in jail...well that's called if you have enough probable cause to prove you committed a crime, police take you to jail and you see the judge. If the judge allows you to bond out...then it's your job to get the $ to bond out. If not...you sit in jail until trial. It's not the police keeping you in jail...get it straight. It's not the judge always keeping you in jail...if you can't get the $$ to bond out..that's YOUR fault, not the justice system's.

as for the vandalism...how do you know the officer never confronted the person or the parent? Were you on the officer's hip every shift, all shift? Doubtful. How do you know a phone call wasn't made, another officer didn't contact them, or anything? YOU DON'T. You just know that the incident repeated. That doesn't mean the police didn't speak to the person. I can come to your house and tell you "I think you were speeding. DOn't do it ever again" and you might say 'ok, sorry officer..never again' but you will still go down hwy77 at 80mph next week. We cannot ensure crime will not happen...nor can we watch every piece of property and every person all day every day. Please get real...Lott cannot afford enough officers for that kind of patrol. How about putting motion lights up, a camera system in, or getting an alert dog...those are some ideas to help reduce crime. Take action for your self. Try to protect your own property. Stop leaving doors unlocked...stop parking in total darkness with no lights nearby. You make yourself an easy target this way. Police can't buy you lights and fences and doors etc...Police can only do so much.

Tyrell, i am hoping that maybe you will want to join the new youth group for lott. the first event is a easter egg hunt on the 11th at the elem. school filed for the kids, but then we are gearing up for meetings, so come by and fill out a membership form, it is free, and we need youth who care and are willing to work towards a better Lott.

Does anyone know why the current Chief of Rosebud (Tim Wells) is gone? Was he fired or did he quit? I will await your reply...

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Aquarius

You're in a tricky position because someone who is supposed to know what they're talking about seems to be spouting complete nonsense instead. If this is an older friend or relative then you can simply smile politely and wait for them to rejoin the rest of us on Planet Earth. But if it's a boss or bureaucrat who's talking rubbish or giving you some puzzling orders, you'll be in a quandary about what to do.
