Riding a quad on the road in the state of Kentucky is illegal. Get over it. I don't think age has anything to do with it. Although I could see some young immature youths riding through peoples yards and raising hell all over Augusta. The law is the law, and I'm sure that you won't find any city that allows Atvs on the road.

I am an ATV owner and agree the law is the law but there are towns in Kentucky that do allow quads on the street.Evarts KY and many other old mining towns fell back to recreation to survive. They have signs like street signs posting or warning other motorists of ATVs on the street. If they had turn signals and brake lights I do not see were they are any different than riding a scooter down the street with no insurance or even old enough to have a license and yes I own a scooter also. The simple fact is some people in this town just want it to be a retirment town and scooters and atvs would not hurt a thing as long as they were street legal and insured. That is to a point,All laws would have to apply for them as they do for any other motor vehical.I do not think they need to be ripping and running or any thing above 30MPH on the blacktop.

SLF, I agree with you for the most part. I haven't heard of a city that would allow ATV's on the road. I know for a fact that all law enforcement follows state laws as well as the cities in the state of Kentucky. The cops in Evarts may be relaxed, but that doesn't make it legal. A city may ban something, but they cannot overide state laws.

It has nothing to do with the cops being laid back,Evarts in Harlan Co and several other old mining towns allow ATVs on the streets.Cities can pass certain bills and ordinances to make loop holes in the state laws. They also can give you a ticket for any traffic law that you may brake that applies for cars(speeding, wreckless driving, ect)and yes it will affect your driving record if ticketed on an ATV.That is the way it should be.

Where much of the ATV riding has been done is the property of the rail road, and they do not allow ATVs there! As far as riding one on public streets of Augusta, maybe the city could allow that, I am not sure about that.

Well facts are not the facts.I have talked to a lot of CSX people and even a few that were pretty high up in rank and they all more or less argree that they do not have a problem with ATVs as long as they are not disturbing the rocks around the tracks, causeing wash outs on the banks and or interfering with the train traffic. It really does not matter or have anything to do with the railraod but more to do with a hand full of older residents that complain about the way the wind blows. My point is if you are acting responsible then allow them to ride on 3rd street(railroad) without problems and fine the hell out of the ones that are irrsponsible.

Well the way I see it is if cars are allowed on the tracks then atv's should also be allowed as long as they are responsible but as you know 1 person can ruin it all for everyone else

Augusta is not like Harlan. There are no mines. Letting people ride atvs in Augusta would be a bad idea. Maybe Augusta should have a vote on it. It would never pass. Go to Big Rock if you want to ride atvs.

You think so do ya???And that is about as far as your train of thought goes to right???First off let me say.I have never taken any kind of pills unless prescribed by a doctor and no not Brindly.LOL Even prescriptions I don't like to take.As far as that goed I am probably one of a few my age(36) that can honestly say I have never even as much as smoked marijuana, hell as a matter of fact I don't even drink alcohol.(Very seldom an occational beverage)But I love to ride four wheelers.Oh BTW I have had my license for 18 years now and drive and work on cars every day but still love to ride four wheelers. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.I know you will have a comment even though you will for get what to type by the time you get all of this one read.

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Capricorn

Someone is in a finger-wagging mood and unfortunately they seem to be concentrating on you! Maybe they think you've fallen from grace for some reason, or perhaps you're simply the only person who happens to be around when they feel like letting off steam. Do your best not to fall into an equally critical and disgruntled mood, because it will soon make you feel wretched.
