Yes, my heart and my prayers for the family. But the radio kept saying that there were 11 living in the house. It seems like a lot of people to be in one house. And if the article here is correct it's a shame that there were no functioning smoke / fire alarms since those could have been obtained from Fire Departments (see previous article in Dispatch)

How dare someone judge how many people are inside a house after it has burned to the ground and lives have been lost!!! This is when we as a community should lend a hand and our hearts to this family in mourning! Instead of questioning why they had so many people in that house we should thank God that some lives were saved! Just my opinion that I had to voice! RIP Jamie Beverly "Quiet Storm" and baby Caleb.

Yes you can do monetary donations at any Hunington Bank for the Beverly family or do food and clothing donations at First Baptist, I believe that's the name...the church down the street they lived on, Fourth Street...call ahead to get a time to drop off.

While Unbelievable can speak for his/herself, I don't think it was so much a judgment statement on the families. Homes and buildings are designed for specific occupant numbers and the required ways and number of exits are based on that. It is important to remember that if there is an unusual amount of people in building, such as during a party, all of the ways out must be still available. Too many times restaurants, for example, block exits when they are busy. Just check it out next time you dine out.

In these economic times, I fully understand the possibility of an overcrowded home. An "In case of fire" plan should be made to help assure that everyone gets out and is accounted for.

Also, working smoke detectors are a must. Even if it is not 2:00 a.m. and everyone is awake, they can provide an early warning to the occupants.

I am not judging the family, nor speculating on the conditions of this tragedy. My message is for everyone who takes safe life for granted. Parents, teach your children, make a home fire plan, and practice it. Get and maintain smoke detectors. And one more thing. Don't gripe when a fire drill or alarm chases you out in the rain some day.

I was not on the scene at this fire but I have seen it all too often.

My prayers go to this family as well.

My family use to attend Church of Deliverance a few years ago....we have lost touch with few of church families. We are sorry for the loss of the people involved in this fire. It is so tragic to lose someone so dear.
Jeremy and Angie Beverley....our prayers and thoughts with you and your family during this critical time in your lives.

Seen it all....

Thank you. Yes, your take on my comment was the way it was meant to be read.

anonymous ..

How DARE I? Well, if we close our eyes to this tragic loss then we're in essence condoning a recurrence. The loss of a child and caring parent is not something that we expect to happen since there are methods of alerting all who dwell in the house. My children - now 30 & 27 - KNOW where to go and what to do in case of fire or emergency in our present home. It would be horrid for everyone to be out of the house and have someone run in to save someone who was already out.

This is not a place to argue people. Please. This is a close friend of mind and if you need question anything please keep it to yourself. Some people are hurt enough for these losses and worried for those still in critical condition. I could only hope that you could keep unnecessary comments to yourself. I understand the need for discussion but keep in mind you do not need to do any more damage. I worry if ill get to see my friend and his now only son again. So once again ....please send your prayers or wishes not questions. Shit happens.... so just help others cope.
