Taco trucks provide local flavor

"A little regulation......" Are you freaking kidding? Since when does the government step into one's life and impose a "little regulation". Nimat can't handle the job she's assigned, now she's asking for more responsibility.

Very cool! Let me add "taco trucks" next to liquor stores and smoke shops as a thriving Vallejo business. Yeah skippy.* yes, I have eaten there..and yes I I like it*

"After watching the evolution of the taco truck business model over the years, King said he considered opening a truck of his own in Chico."
Well, there you go. Surely, this article is an attempt at sarcasm towards the City of Vallejo. Isn't it? |

Two throughts...
1. I guess there isn't enough going on in Vallejo right now, so the big front page story is about taco trucks? Did someone at the T-H just discover them? 2. Code enforcement: if it ain't broke don't fix it. Find something worthwhile to regulate that really benefits the residents. |
|
|
nope there isnt, clearly when the TH plagiarizes a recent news story in another paper to create this piece of senseless fluff.

Well, Vallejo government and some citizens groups already have a mentality set like Vallejo is a San Ramon or Marin city (without the money). I was just wondering if the business development everyone is wanting is a bunch of taco truck stands, non regulated to boot.
These kinds of articles put truth into the union's arguments that Vallejo will let large revenue based employers leave the city while letting taco trucks breach every other corner of the city. |

Everyone,
There's just no winning with you people. I've noticed that the TH has been trying more to highlight the positive and interesting parts of Vallejo. But everyone here just simply wants to complain and say the sky is falling. It's a simple local community article about taco trucks, which are far far better to eat at than any fast food place. Yes, taco trucks are good thing in Vallejo, so just lighten up. Damn, you people are the most self-loathing residents I've ever seen. Have some pride, highlight the positive, work to improve the bad, and all will be good.

Why is it self-loathing and why is it good to have a taco truck on every corner and not a Walmart in one part of the city?
Why? |

The best taco truck in Vallejo cooks up better Mexican food than any of Vallejo's Mexican restaurants.
If you want wonderful Mexican food, the taco truck that parks in the old YardBirds parking lot adjacent to the 80E Tennesssee Street exit to Admiral Callahan, is where your palette can be pleased. For $5.00 the super burrito is the best bet on the menu. They also make special rice, beans and meat plates. Their own salsa rojo & salsa verde is great!! |

thanks for the tip !
agreed, most restaurants in the city seem to be cooking for gringos from the midwest. Bland, flavorless, lacking in any authenticity... |

I think the article helps to capture the flavor of Vallejo - pun intended. I always ask for extra green onion, radishes and lime.

CasualObserver,
One is a locally owned business and one is not. A taco truck and a big-box retailer are two totally different animals. But because you can't tell the difference, it would be a waste of time to explain the details here. It's self-loathing in the civic pride sense. There are people here, you being one of them, that do not have a positive thing to say about the city, the city council, or efforts to improve it. You are far too interested in discussing blame, assigning responsibility (in order to blame), and casting doubt on any effort to improve the city. All without actively contributing to improve the city. From a little TH article on taco trucks, you curmudgeons pulled in the city council, lost revenue, wal-mart, government regulation, and people that want to elevate the status of the city. Once, just once, be part of a solution and build concensus instead of rattling your old sabres. Enough for F sakes!

Sam, you are right about that truck by the old Yardbirds. When the fella was out for a month or so on vacation to Mexico a few years ago, I thought I was gonna have withdrawal symptoms.

These roach coaches are nothing more than an Eyesore contributing to the great atmosphere here in Vallejo.

I wonder how many of them went out of thier way to get a license. Now just wondering. How many are graded, like legitamate business owners. I know the ones out here in the AV do not display thier grade if they have one. I don't eat at any that do not display a business license or a grade. |
It will be one less eyesore if you stay home and out of sight. |

CasualObserver,
Who said anything about adding more taco trucks? Not me. I'm merely pointing out that the comments that come out of you, and others, are just regurgitated complaints. And after you've ran through those, you go to Plan B "Name Calling". Nothing new. No solutions. Plenty of personal attacks. You guys latched on to a simple feel good piece in the TH about taco trucks, and use it to whine and complain. It's a shame your opinions can't stand by themselves without attacking the other person. Everyone knows that Tacos Jalisco is a Vallejo icon and something to be proud of (truck and resturant). Your love for wal-mart seriously undermines your judgement of quality.

I'll have to give that one a try. I have always liked the super burrito con carne with everything at the truck on Springs Road. Really good! |
