The fact that a landlord would be making only half the amount of money as the person renting from the landlord does not go along with your liberal ideas that money always trickles up.....

If the person collecting the rent money is not more wealthy than the renter than you liberal ideas are wrong.......

If the renter is living way beyond his means and the landlord is living a very frugal life then that does not support your theory......
