BUTTE COUNTY — Public safety officers were hoping the number of driving under the influence arrests would have gone down this Memorial Day weekend, but they didn't.
Butte County law enforcement agencies again arrested 24 people for the holiday weekend from Friday through Monday, including one man for an alleged drunken driving crash that killed his brother, said Sgt. Steve Rowe of Paradise police.
"We don't want to see people arrested for DUI," Rowe said. "We want to get the word out so people will not drive intoxicated."
A DUI checkpoint Friday night in Chico resulted in officers doing field sobriety tests on four drivers with one arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, Rowe said. Another driver was arrested on suspicion of driving on a suspended license and eight drivers were arrested for being unlicensed.
Anyone wanna bet the eight unlicensed were beaners?
