Save your applause - when you get back in your car, try to remember those of us on two wheels or two feet.

Juanita, just be sure to not wear a Target store logo shirt. It can be misleading to motorist:) I always wondered why so many cycling jerseys come in such crazy designs - then I started road riding...the more I stick out the safer I feel!

Hi Ediah,

The other day I was riding with my kid. A lady was at a stop sign. She waited until my kid had already passed the corner and then she jumped her car right out in front of us. My kid skidded to a stop and jumped from his bike, missing her car by about a foot.

boy, I was so mad, I wanted to fix that woman up with Sawblade. I am out there on my bike, with people like Bride of Sawblade running loose, hard to have a positive outlook.

some cop commented this morning on the city budget cuts - says the council should ride along with cops. Well, when I asked our ex-police chief, Mike Efford, now the head cop at Butte College, to take a stroll through my neighborhood to see the traffic problems around the library and the adjacent school, he told me, in so many words, he had better things to do. Hagerty has even less concern - it is his policy that police do not respond to traffic accidents unless there is an injury requiring an ambulance - ask your insurance agent what that does to your auto rates.

The cops don't care. The city don't care. The motorists are morons. We cyclists are out there on our own, and we ain't even allowed to pack a piece.

As for you Sawblade, if you're going to stalk me, how about coming up with some positive things about Chico, little man?

Car accidents are not in police domain. They come, if requested, to fill out a report for insurance but other than that they have really no reason to be there, unless someone is hurt. It's a civil issue. As to say cops don't care, I believe it's more of a priority system, if there is a fender bender compared to chasing a felon, what would you respond to first? I imagine the public would want the felon arrested and they wouldn't care about some fender bender.

Literally laughing out loud at your Sawblade comments - funny stuff! It's really sad to read all the things that are going on with Chico. Even though I was there for only 6 years - had our only child there and meet a group of friends that will last a lifetime. But another reason for our move - financially, we just got insurance quotes (getting rid of CA plates - they can get you into trouble here) and our insurance costs will be less than half of what we were paying in Chico. And we had excellent coverage and pricing - my Chico agent is my best friend there! The city of Chico is going to get a wake-up call on a number of fronts - hope it fairs well.
