They should move to Midlothian. Stay local and give a good Pizza. Kenootz is garbage and Ken&Dicks aren't anything to write home about and Bartolinis is way overpriced, Mid Villa is all the above.

Too Bad, just another one of the economic problems in our community. Not enough good businesses to support! Papa's Pizza was out done by Blarney, Beggars and others! Kenootz is a bad product, but he got a nice deal in Midlo! I guess that shows that a good business environment can recharge a struggling business.

I wonder if Kuspa will get on the phone with Pete Manhard to let him know how well Dotson was doing on keeping this business going?

Don't know what PAPA's closing has to do with the city, the guy wanted to retire and sold the building to another Pizza business, he took the name with him. The building is going on it's fourth owner in forty years. Everything you commented on is called competition, which the city , by law cannot dictate. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the Pizza kitchen.

Kennootz left Oak Forest I believe while Gordon was Mayor. He didn't get any kind of deal from Midlo, he got a good lease from the grocery store where he first moved, in fact they made his life miserable during construction of the store. He in the last couple of years got a good deal to move across the street, had nothing to do with Midlo. Cities cannot and should not set rents for businesses. You know nothing of the history.

If you click on the link ( oakforest.patch.com/articles/papa-s-pizza-clo... ) that takes you to a story concerning your inquiry. "High taxes are hurting businesses in Oak Forest "big, big time," Sam Tuhaimer said." Hope that clarifies what one has to do with the other.

Personally, I have never liked Kenootz, but glad they are doing fine, but since they don't reside in Oak Forest, they do nothing for our tax base! I would be happier if organization like the high school boosters would support local food suppliers and not folks like Kenootz, but I believe there is some political reason that they use Kenootz and not local folks like Papa's, Blarney or Beggars! Just economics of business or is it? Higher Taxes means less businesses succeed! People don't use their buying power in our community and spend more of their discretionary income in other towns! The city did buy some rundown property though to help out another local business, with that precedent set if I was a business in Oak Forest, any business I sure would see what the city would give my business.

I am involved with a couple of those "booster" groups at the HS and we send the requests out for bid to furnish food at our functions. Kenootz is always competitively priced and always gives a plentiful amount of food for any event we have used them for.

We have to "watch our pennies" during these economic times as well!

I have to say that papas closing does not surprise me. Their pizza was terrible so it is no surprise to me that they are closing I never saw the parking log full once the whole 12 years I have lived in OF. Beggars is ok but overpriced IMO, they give not deals, I really enjoy Nancy's or Rosattis in Tinley any day and with the coupons you get two for the price of one.

I'm not a big fan of Kenootzes pie, but they go far and above other pizza places in working with organizations and giving them great deals. I've dealt with them for school and other organizations and they are very helpful.

You can get one for three dollars at any grocery store and not have to pay the prepared food sales tax either.

The reason the high school uses Kenootz is because he is the only one that offers discounts to the booster programs. The others wont. These groups are trying to raise $ so it only makes sense.

Papa's Pizza was garbage...tried it several times over the years as I have lived in Oak Forest for 15 years. As another poster said there were never any cars in the lot. Kenootz may not be in Oak Forest but they do a lot for the booster programs. And I think Kenootz pizza is delicious!

Can you explain what he does so much for the community? You respect him a great deal, what reasons do you use to promote that stance, please give examples! I don't know the man, but know he is connected to the Oak Fest Group and sells his wares there - not for the community, but for his business! I do believe he gives discounts to the organizations, but would tend to believe that even with discounts he makes money on his pies!

It is true. Kenny is a guy who makes an effort to work with the community. I will always respect him for that and I will always be a patron. When I was in college, he sponsored our team and donated money to us. When I walked in his door and asked if he could help us, he could have given me a bull shit excuse but he quickly helped us out. It was not just my team he was helping out, he was helping out many other sport teams. Thank you Kenny, it was appreciated.

I was at Culver's and was talking to the manager. They said he wouldn't let them in Oak Fest. Why is that?
