We are thinking moving to Spokane

If you move to Spokane WA you will regret it, the hole area is one big dump, from Spokane to the Canadian Border, the water is terrible, the police are like nazi's, and there's no work here for you! Good luck to you...your gonna need it.

By Eric: Some unusual comments above: I've ridden my bike all over the area the past ten years and I've never encountered rednecks raising their middle fingers at cyclists. The area is not filled with racists....a very good place to raise families. Heavy traffic of the type found in the coastal metro areas is non existent. Our local schools have been excellent; most of the schools are very good. If you like access to natural surroundings - that is excellent here. Crime rates are about the same as the rest of the state.
In terms of jobs, the big ones are health care, education, government (USAF, federal, state and local government jobs), and agriculture.
Salaries are lower in Spokane than in Seattle (except for health care, education and government).
If you like a place that is a lot drier than the coast, yet has most big city amenities without the traffic, long lines, and big city hassles, you my enjoy this area quite a bit.

The original question from SalishStar really segued into some fascinating discussions but I'm of the opinion that you impart on your surroundings what lies within; or, you can make a hell of heaven or a heaven of hell. I've lived in major metropolitan areas and podunk townships and, for all its flaws, Spokane has been a wonderful place to live for the last 20 years.
In fact, just last night over dinner, I was discussing with friends who are visiting from the Netherlands this very topic as they have travelled the world many times over. The question was - What do you think of Spokane, considering all the places you've been? They said they found everyone they've encountered to be readily helpful and genuinely kind. Basically, they were very impressed. Perhaps this was the way they approach people, their inner nature, or dumb luck in approaching the right people -

You just love to add to what really happened and why. Pete is a theif and has a criminal record. Why couldnt that all be brought up at the trials.

I think the jury needed to know all that stuff about Petes mishaps before this one. HMMM I think that would have been fair. But the jury didnt get to hear that either to help make up their mind.

In Petes trial he wouldnt have gotten off. The Jury would have found out what kind of persion he really is and his azz would be in more trouble.

I make decisions using logic and common sense(which I can explain to you if you don't know what that means, Kate, just let me know), not the color of my skin, and as far as getting away with something because of my ethnicity, in reality things get TAKEN away because of my ethnicity, like justice and a fair trial. Also, I know that not all people think bad of Indians, just the ignorant ones think like that.

According to the Spokesman Review, Kate, Pete doesn't have any "mishaps" or criminal record the jury should be aware of, so why don't you come up with something pertinent, or do us a favour and zip it.

So, according to you, the Spokesman Review doesn't think that any of the 14 cases below that Pete was a defendant in, was important to share with the jury?

All 14 cases below belong to Shonto Pete. He's listed as the Defendant along with which court was involved, the case number and the violation date. Doesn't look like an "innocent victim" to me...Let's get the truth out there!

Municipal and district court cover civil, traffic, alcohol debts owed and that sort of thing. The only Superior court case he was found innocent. The county website only had info on the Superior court issue about the truck. Again the Spokesman review reported no priors for theft. On how many of these cases was he convicted? We know he has had a drinking issues, how many are related to that. a case the court venues themselves indicate less serious charges.
Let's get the truth out there!

Saturday, March 14, 2009I am deeply upset about the Jay Olsen verdict. I grew up with Jay & his brother Eric and we went to Ridgeview Christian Center (AG) and participated in the Royal Rangers. Jay has always been Gay and all of us who grew up with him knew it and Eric lied when he said he only found out about it only 2 years ago. And there is no excuse for what Jay Olsen did that night and I believe the Judge, Prosecutor, and defense attorney were in cahoots to throw the case like a boxer throws a fight, and I believe the jury was tainted, paid off, and secretly instructed to give a not guilty verdict. I have been through the leagal system in Spokane and know how corrupt the system is there. And I know first hand when the Spokane police entered my home illegally one night and beat me up without even knowing who they were assaulting, and when I filed a complaint, nothing was ever done. I guess when you carry a badge in Spokane, you are above the law. And I guess all citizens of Spokane should go and carry guns, etc into bars and when they get mad at each other, just have another Sootout at the OK Corral. After all, if the police can do it, and they supposedly uphold the law, then it must be ok to do it. And if the citizens of Spokane had any nerve, they would get rid of that no good police chief, Steve Tucker, and all Judges and start anew. And maybe if the people of Spokane had the courage to fight back against unprovoked, etc attacks by the police and give them a taste of their own medicine, then perhaps brutality will stop.

You most likely arent the kind of person they remember either, which is why they ended up on the right side of the law. You most likely have been the one behind bars blaming everyone like Pete for their problems in life. How the cops are always bad and all the judges have been bought. Yah Yah heard it all before from other criminals.

That is so true he has nothing to prove because he is guilty of too many crimes but he gets away with it and it isn't right. was his father once the chief of police or does anyone know this? You know Jay Olsen acts guilty too and that is why he won't go on camera. He might say the wrong thing and be exposed more for the wrongs he got away with so far.

I've been up to Spokane about 3 times now & have always found it to be a very nice place. I'm not white yet have always been treated with kindness.
