You should really get your information straight before printing such an article. For example, please have the dates and numbers before printing such an article. Central Tech has the second highest graduation rate behind Collegiate Academy.

Yeah Right, only thing Central is graduating is Certificate of Attendances, riddle which is worth more GED or Certificate of Attendance. That is a riddle for the principle and the Shcool Superintedent that is $150,000 a year strong supposed to answer.

That information was six years old! Central Tech is an outstanding Career and Technical school.
Erie Times News writer Sarah Weber has not yet even apologized about the error in her news article. Central Tech is one of the best in the state.

Hey, you have to be kidding me. If the kids that attend Central Tech are supposed to be one of the best in the state, that tells me we are in a heap of trouble. Just drive around after school and take a look. NO WAY!!!!!!

Poster boy is ridiculing CentralTech graduates? Poster boys writing includes the wrong principle/Principal, and a sentence fragment. He must have received one of those Attendance diplomas!!

Penny has it right, I agree.......If that is our future we ARE in big trouble. It's a shame that parents today either don't care or have no control over their children. I would have never been let out of the house with the chains, colored haird and tsnk tops that I've seen in the past few years. Although I think there is somewhat of a dress code now it stems back to the upbringing.

First off the bat, I live in Erie not Waterford. Secondly, yes there is a dress code, but I'm not sure what if any difference it makes. The kids from Central Tech still have there pants below there butts. They all were hoodies that make them look like thugs,(I'm sure that is what they want to look like). Yes there hair is mohawked or colored purble or blue or red. I believe most smoke because they stand on the sidewalk in front of my house swearing and smoking. I don't think many make
it to school on time because I look out my window and groups are walking in the neighborhood until about 9:30 every morning. I could go on and on. Don't let anyone fool you, these kids are not the top students in Erie.

Typical Erie response! I can't think of anything to say that is intelligent so I will call people an idiot. How lame! I'm so impressed by your vocabulary.
If anyone had any sense they would not send there kids to Central!

First off Penny............ the kids you see mostly go to Alternative Ed or Transition School, which is not a part of Central Tech. They are some of the worst students in the district and unfortunately they give Central a bad name. Central Tech is one of the best career and technical schools in the state. These students are coming out with a trade for the work force. A lot of them may not be going to college but they have scores that top the state for their school type.

I think not. The kids that go to alternative start at different times of the morning. The latest being at 9:00. The students that I'm refering to are the ones that stand in front of my house and smoke pot. {I made them move down the block this morning). These students go into school at the front entrance at 8:00. I also see these students leave school at 3:15. Alternative students leave at different times. 3:30 most depart. I'm not saying all students at Central are bad, but the majority that I see are unsavory characters. I should mention that I have lived across the street from the front doors of Central since 1974, I have seen things go on that you would not believe.

Back in the late 80's/early 90's they closed Academy citing expensive repairs to the building and necessary renovations. Instead, they built a new East High School claiming it would improve the attitude of students who attended the school from lower income areas. What this did was increase the burden of education on Central which became way to overpopulated. The intended effect on East has not come to fruition. Eva Tucker and others on the school board at that time failed badly. Academy had the highest SAT scores and graduation rates of any of the City schools and probably held their own with any school in the County. I also have driven by Central at various hours of the day and have seen some of our future and it is not encouraging. Like any institution they have their exceptions as I know there are many students who are making the most of the opportunities to better themselves and work toward college or a solid trade. I would take any of these kids as an employer as they have had to overcome many more obstacles than most of the students in the suburbs.

there are some great stories of success inside the Central building. There are also some sad ones as well. Of the 178 students I teach each day only 13 parents came in for parent/teacher conferences. The commitment to education is very low from the family perspective. There are several students that have already missed 20 plus days of our 54 so far. I hope something soon changes. I good friend of mine works at East and it is even worse there. Something needs to change.

iwt could it possibly be that the 13 parents that came to p/t conferences were the parents that did not need to be there. All the p/t conferences that I attended when my boys were in school, only the parents who really did not need to go but wanted the teachers to tell them how great there children were. The real sad story is the students who's parents really need to go just can't seem to find the time. I saw the amount of parents who showed at Central and it was a disgrace to the school and the teachers who I believe try to educate these kids everyday.

First off,why must of you are hating on central. We are not that bad and just because you see some of the students smoking and late to school doesn't mean thats how the rest of the school is.For your information Central is mostly an academy standard school. Its way better than East,Strong Vincent, and any other school here when you really think about it.Nineth grader are already taking course that you would have to take when you get to college it gets no better than that.I do agree that the parents who really do need to attend p/t conferences is showing a disgrace to the school but not everybody care on their child education and you can't change that.People really do need to stop hating on Central because the more people down us the better we get and that not bad on the students perspective. The Student do not wear baggy pants and big hoodies now adays the wear tight shirts and some what tight pants that doen't hang that low because their realizing that it is not cute.

Okay, so Central may not be the greatest school in the world but if you people take a look for one second at all of the other students that dont wear baggy pants and stand outside to smoke you will see that people there actually do care about their education and want to get somewhere in life. What you people are doing is steriotyping. I go to Central and because of going there I am already a certified nurses aid. I dont know but if you ask me thats a pretty good thing to have at the age of 17. I will be going to collage to be a RN. I already have more knowledge about the nursing field than someone that will just come from east or vincent or whatever else school. Every other school has eqauly the same amount of people standing outside smoking and wearing baggy pants and shirts down to thier butts. We actually have a very STRICT dress code and if we dont follow it there are consequinces. So please dont rag on Central or atleast get the facts right before you do. Central is just like any other school out there

Strict dress code? What is the dress code their? The thug look! Come on, do you look at your fellow students at all? The only dress code I see is the color of the clothes and everything else is up for grabs.

Yes, i did say strict dress code. No its not the "thug look". I look at my fellow students everyday,And like i said before your only looking at the ones that wear those things and not at the people that follow it. It's not my fault that there are a few screw ups and dont care about resepect and disapline, im sure in EVERY school there are deff dress code violators. Even academy so...."Penny" i think you should find a new school to bash.

I guess I'm way behind the times. I assumed a dress code was not just the color of the uniform but how they wore the clothes. My mistake. Wearing pants below the butt and clothes that are ten sizes to big is ok. If that is what the school district considers a dress code, then so be it.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Cancer

Hold it! You need to approach things in a calm, controlled manner today otherwise you're likely to get yourself into a state in no time at all. That's especially likely if you're trying to meet a deadline because you'll start to panic and then become all fingers and thumbs. You might also get extremely ratty with anyone who gets in your way or asks stupid questions. Come on, is that fair?
