well this sounds like good news for those people in eastern berkshires and parts of northwestern berkshire will get highspeed dsl from verizon.i sure hope verizon will be getting ready to offer fiostv and fios internet soon to pittsfield, because verizon is in 2 different areas here that im aware of.so i would think that they would be able to offer fiostv and fiostnet in my area.but it seems to me that verizon would have to come from albany, schenectady and troy down into pittsfield to deploy fiostv and fiosnet and other citys and towns around pittsfield, because the berkshires basically doesnt get tv from eastern ma.we are in the albany tv market since its only an hour away.so i would think verizon would be installing fiostv and fiosnet from albany into pittsfield,an not be coming from eastern ma.but if its easier for verizon to come down from eastern/central ma in the berkshires that way for installing fiostv and fiosnet.im just saying the berkshires is practically in upstate ny and we are pretty much upstate ny around here and have been for a long time now.

well i hope verizon didnt go out of there way to spend to much here in western ma.it always seems like we are the forgotten ones.but pittsfield and surrounding area can be all fios tv and fios internet, because we get everything from albany and schenectady since we are in the capitol region.i would think verizon be coming from that direction when installing fios instead of coming from the eastern area of ma.i would think verizon can install fios tv and fios internet to pittsfield and surrounding areas this spring and summer if they wanted

FIOS is still in the 'test market' phase, mainly in the eastern part of the commonwealth. According to Verizon, the results from the test markets are 'inconclusive'. When it comes to Verizon, it is all about money..period. It is my opinion that every small town & hamlet in Berkshire County should have the option to 'get on board' with high speed internet service.

verizon has installed fiostv and fios internet in texas, virginia, west virginia, deleware, new jersey, pennsylvania, new york city and the 5 burroughs along with long island, and upstate ny.plus connecticut, rhode island an eastern ma.but hopefully soon verizon fiostv and internet will be here.but in order for verizontv and internet to be installed here in pittsfield and surrounding citys and towns have to come from albany, schenecady and troy, well unless its easier and cost less to come from eastern ma into western ma here in the berkshires

581 days after the last post, it is obvious that FiOS will arrive in the Berkshires shortly after Earth is invaded by Martians. It is equally certain that no further DSL deployment is coming in out lifetimes. What we have now is what we will have for the foreseeable future because we are irrelevant to everyone east of I-91. We must shut up and pay our taxes like good, obedient serfs.
For those of us who live beyond the existing service areas, it is and shall continue to be satellite or dialup. |

First, I am in fact a resident of one of the unserved towns in the Berkshires. Tamaroa, IL, wherever that is, evinces the imperfection of geolocation when dealing with national ISPs and dynamic IP# assignment.
The attitude expressed by "Nurse Nancy" of Bolton is indicative of the ignorance of, and the contempt for, the residents of western MA that is common in the urban/suburban sewer that is the eastern end of the state. They evidently cannot grasp that looking out a window and seeing concrete, glass, endless traffic on the streets and human debris on the sidewalks is not the ideal lifestyle for most of America's people. That attitude governs their view of what we unanointed ones who don't want to live in high rises and ugliness should be "allowed" to have by the elite. Were they in charge, we would still live in log cabins, light our homes with candles and get about on horseback. While they are surfing the Web with FiOS, cable and fast DSL, we iggernit yahoos in the Berkshires must be content with dialup via poorly maintained phone lines because the superior beings of eastern MA have decreed that we deserve nothing better. Sorry, but we aren't satisfied with being second-class citizens. We pay our taxes and it's time for us to benefit from them. |

1 "Look Dr Dolittle: Did you mention elite! Do you think of yourself as elite?" Not at all. I'm just a common human being that posturing snobs of your ilk look down upon from over your elevated noses. However, unlike you, I AM a resident of the area that you are arrogantly (and cluelessly) condemning from a thousand miles away (allegedly). Ergo, I am aware of the needs of this region and I shall continue to raise issues about those needs, your fatuous opinions notwithstanding. "I can tell you one thing...your shit smells worse then most." Do you eat with that mouth, Ratched? BTW, how you are aware of the odor of my effluence? I don't recall your being in the vicinity of my butt during or immediately following BMs. "I don't live in Bolton, my company has many IP addresses, I actually live on the beach in Florida..." How très fascinating! You live in Flori-DUH and connect to the Internet through Bolton, MA. Pull the other one. "... but still have a home in Marlborough and Maine." You must be highly paid, Ratched. What services other than nursing do you offer? "The people of the Berkshires are obnoxious and deserve everything they get." OH NOES! Color me appropriately mortified!*insert rolling eyes smiley here* For one who obviously has never ventured west of Worcester, you certainly are free with your insults and attacks on Berkshirites. Use this, quickly. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v349/DocDoo... "Dr Doom, you deserve less because of your elitist attitude." Ratched, elitism gushes from your writings like toxic waste from a ruptured drum. And forget not that YOU started this in post #9. "I don't know how the rest of live in your world!" Well, I DO have the benefit of living in a place where I learned at an early age to write coherent sentences — and properly pronounce words containing 'R'. "If you have so much money..." Where did that misapprehension originate? Thanks to the tax-draining parasites east of 128, NO ONE has "so much money". We're all struggling to make ends meet while the eastern MA leeches live off of our blood, sweat and tears. "... and pretension..." ?????? Off your meds again? "... then put in your own Fiber optic network." Might I suggest that you take a break from being a twit and do a little research on communities that HAVE united to create their own fiber networks. Learn about how they have faced opposition and lawsuits from the cable/telco companies and their political tools. Your ignorance of the subject is truly profound. "...ahole" How inestimably clever!*YAWN* |

1 This is a thread about the expansion of broadband access in the Berkshires. Your presence in it is solely as an irritant, and has been since post #9. "... you need an enema, big time and I'm girl to give it to ya..." Your BDSM fetishes are duly noted, but they are not appropriate in this forum. If you have something constructive and on-topic to contribute to the thread, do so. Otherwise, go back to your Nurse Barbie fantasy life and leave the discussion of real-world matters to the adults. |

1 Your writing portrays you as a Yahoo-chatroom-frequenting teenager trying to impress the grownups with your maturity ... and failing badly. You announced your intention and identified yourself in your first post: "Who cares about the Berkshires! They are a bunch of pretensious fish poop..." Terminating a question in an exclamation point, misspelling "pretentious" and categorizing a county's population as "fish poop" did not create a positive first impression on a bulletin board based in a Berkshire County town. Back on topic, Sandisfield was one of 23 Berkshire towns that did not have broadband prior to Verizon's 2008 DSL expansion. The very existence of this board is arguably the result of that expansion, since maintaining a website via dialup is at best tedious and frustrating. If you expected a positive response from the users of this board, "naive" can be added to your list of undesirable qualities. Since your first post offered nothing of substance to a serious thread and was intended to offend, you can safely be dismissed as a troll. The fate of trolls on BBs is usually a foregone conclusion. Were I the admin of this BB, your post would have been unceremoniously terminated and your IP# would have been blocked. |

1 "The editors troll these post looking to edit what they can.." Editors? There are no "editors" on Internet BBs. There are administrators and moderators. And they can "edit" what they want, not "what they can". In my 12 years on the Net, I have been a moderator and am an admin. And I state flatly that you are utterly clueless. Furthermore, admins/mods do not "troll" their boards. Trolling is usually done by annoying brats for the sole purpose of disrupting boards, email lists and newsgroups. In your case, an editor would be appropriate. Your spelling and grammar are atrocious. IAC, you are committing the cardinal sin of Internet boards: you're a crashing bore. You have established your immaturity and your lack of education. I'm sure that there are middle-school Yahoo chatrooms where you would be in your element. You are hereby on Ignore. Spew your juvenile babble to yourself. You are the only one that you are impressing. |

1 I'm putting you on ignore too. It looks to me that someone of your stature and your ability to communicate well with other board members seems to elevated you to a whole new level in your life. I bet your neighbors are impressed. But, aren't you wasting your precious talent trolling these boards looking for fights? With all your knowledge shouldn't you be doing something better for society instead of concerning yourself with cable TV in the Berkshires? At the end of the day, does it really matter? Isn't there really anything else you care about? Look Dr. Precious! Do something else with your time, leave these boards to us losers! Go buy a dish and shut up, or is that too expensive for you? You are nothing but the C and D students I want to school with... You remind me of |
