I think the whole Petit family are trusting people who believe in the positive side of people, not the dark side... Mrs. Petit loved her family and wanted to save them and thought giving these thugs the money would make them go away... a naive thought at this juncture but I am sure that is what she thought she was doing... but when Hayes went out to buy gasoline early in the morning, did she know that, what did she thing they needed the gasoline for?

Well, I always thought there was a suspicion of the doctor having something to do with this, but, these two thugs are just about to lose their lives to the death penalty. What would they have to lose by giving up the doctor at this point if in fact he put them up to it? I know I would do that in a heartbeat. I would probably get a life bid, the doctor would get the death penalty, and I would live in prison with the million he gave me in my commissary account. That is exactly why the guys who said it was a conspiracy by the doctor doesn't make any sense. The thugs would have been given him up!! Wake up people, this is the worst crime committed by 2 people since Charles Manson.
But why are there still redactions if the investigation is complete?

You're forgetting that Komisarjevsky was back at her house with her two daughters and her husband. I would think that her entire motivation was to save their lives - not run away and just save her own. I sure as hell would have gone back to my kids, not left them to die.

Maybe I'm wrong. I doubt I have followed it as exactly as you.
Also, some sources seem to contradict each other.
For example, some said Petit escaped with his feet bound(hobbled) and some said he escaped AFTER he untied himself.
Maybe you can help me. There seems to be millions of postings/websites with info.
You are correct - the judge issued a gag order - no information to be released by the police or by any of the attorneys or other parties involved. I think his primary motivation is to ensure that the defendants can get a fair trial - it's already going to be hard enough to find a jury that hasn't already heard many of the details of the case.

There is an awful lot of information that came out in the days immediately after the murders and before the gag order. Probably the most reliable source is the search warrants. Even though they are redacted (parts crossed out), it's possible to establish a time line and to get an idea of what was going on. Honestly, I don't think that until the trials we are going to get a clear picture of what happened. I think that the hartford Courant still has the search warrants posted somewhere on their website. They are large .pdf files, so you need Acrobat Reader and a high speed internet connection to download and read them. But, if you are interested in gathering facts, I would suggest you start there. Good luck

<quoted text>Yes, that's what I thought too. I thought it was for the sake of the investigation. Since the investigation is closed, it seems strange that there are still redactions.
Perhaps the status of the investigation - open/closed - is what the cops fear will have a chilling effect. Perhaps we're not supposed to hear that.
My thoughts and prayers are for the Petits and the cops, too. This is tragic for everyone.
I believe that the redactions are not just for the sake of any ongoing investigation, but also because neither defendant has come to trial yet. I read that Dr. Petit said the trials would not take place until some time in 2010.

I wonder who exactly was in the car with her. Did anyone at the bank identify who was in the car with her?

If no one at the bank identified them, then the only ones to speak are JK and SH - since Petit was unconscious.

Perhaps this is why there is a gag order.

By whose account?

I suspect this is a point of contention in the case.

"Just Another Poster" do you know why this thread is labeled "20 posts - 1 author". Is that what they call a "tracking cookie"?

No, its not a point of contention at all. According the the search warrants, Hayes admitted he was in the car.

Who else do you think it could have been?

Did you see the mug shot of JK taken the morning of the crime when he got caught? His nose is all red and sort of bruised looking. I hope its because someone slugged him with all they had.

It always seemed to me that the Cheshire police stood outside the residence and waited rather than alerting the people inside that they were there. They didn't need a SWAT team, they needed a bullhorn to save lives.

We will never get a straight answer from them because they know they screwed up.

The Dr. did what most stupid Husbands do, he went downstairs where the two animals overpowered him, and took him out of the equation. This should show evryone in Conneticut that this can happen to you! Every citizen in Conn. should have their cell by the bed, an impregnable door, and a shot gun in the closet, or a 9mm with ammo separate, this is their safe room. They never go below. The fact that these animals have not been tried yet is anothr Conneticut abomination. Last mass murderer had to ask to be juiced, Michael Ross, serial killer of woman... Keeping these guys at 30,000 a year for 30 years, at almost a million is absurd, lethal injection, swift punishment, but a swift trial. I feel deeply for the Dr. having his family murdered, raped, and burned.

The doctor was in the family room or den asleep when the two thugs entered the home... he didn't come down from upstairs to confront the men... he had been reading and fell asleep and probably was startled and then beaten by the two.... I agree with what you said about having a cell phone with you by your bed. I have often wondered if lives could have been saved if one of the daughters had had a cell phone with her.

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Sagittarius

Watch out. Your mind is working overtime in full analytical mode, but you may be leaping to unfounded conclusions and reading too much into situations. The result of all this is that you might start to suspect someone's honesty or loyalty, and wonder what exactly they're up to. Don't accuse them of anything awful just yet because it may turn out that you were totally wrong about them.
