canaday vs. house

Voting is a priviledge that should be exercised with great care. A lot of opinions have been expressed in this post. Well here are some FACTS! The following statements can be confirmed by checking the public records in Independence with the Clerk of the District Court, 2nd Floor of the Judicial Center.

1. Canaday gave a man PROBATION in a case where he raped a 7 year old girl. The County Attorney at the time was Bill Cullins. The County Attorney objected. Canaday did it anyway. The case is State of Kansas v. Mark Stegall, Case number 01 CR-392 I(C).

2. Canaday gave a man PROBATION in a case where he killed a man in a bar fight. The County Attorney objected. Canaday did it anyway. The case is State of Kansas v. Burlin Looney, Case number 06 CR 43 I(C).

These are just two examples of how Canaday has ignored the law and the suffering of crime victims families.

I would also suggest that you talk to any of the Clerks in the Coffeyville Distric Court is you are still undecided. They will tell you of Canaday's temper tantrums! No one should have to work under these conditions.

It is also interesting that his foster-daughter is working in the Judicial center in Independence. This violates State & County rules against nepotisim. It is also sad that other clerks were fired and others hours cut so that she could get more hours.

Mr. House is more than qualified to be our next Judge. Mr. House had handled criminal as well as civil cases all over SE KS. Canaday never had a Civil jury trial before he became Judge. Mr. House is well respected in every Court, in every County in which he has appeared.

Talked with a clerk, ask her who would she vote for, she never said a word. Ask her if it would be canaday she frowned, would it be House,she SMILED.

In response to Canaday Supporter and Area Attorney, I can state with 100% certainty that the members of the Montgomery County and Chataqua County legal community, and the attorneys in particular, are going to vote overwhelmingly for Gary House for judge. Mistreatment of staff, issuing of illegal orders, mistreatment of victim witnesses, holding hearings without notifying victims, these are not the qualifications I am looking for in a judge.

I can only say of my experiences with Judge Canaday that I will be supporting House for Judge. I have not been into trouble with the law all I'm trying to get done is Judge Canaday to make a father pay child support. The father in question has a good job and Judge Canaday refuses to uphold his own court order by issuing a with holding order to take child support out of this man's check, Canaday did not hold this man in contempt of court like the court order said would be done if he didn't pay child support. All Canaday keeps doing is ordering more things such as home evaluations and case management that costs more money. All I want is what my children are entitled to. Canaday didn't even want to hear from my attorney how far behind in child support this man is. This has been ongoing in Canaday's court room for over one year.

Vote House For District Judge

VOTE GARY HOUSE FOR DISTRICT JUDGE. I have looked into Mr. House's background and creditials for this position. I am impressed! He will be a positive change for the 14th Judicial District. Even if you may never personally come in contact with the court system, you probably know someone that is or will need the integrity and consideration GARY HOUSE represents!! VOTE HOUSE ON AUGUST 5th!!

I COULDN'T AGREE MORE!!! I have never had dealing with Canaday with the courtroom (or anywhere else) but I am NOT impressed with ego maniac attitude towards the public that I saw when I heard him speak!! He NEEDS TO GO!! We need somone willing to work on issues rather have the "know it all" attitude and not be willing to make changes our county needs. VOTE HOUSE ON AUGUST 5TH!!

Take it from someone who's seen him in action, all the negative comments that have been made are accurate(sadly so). He's lost perspective when it comes to fair and impartial and a great deal of his rulings are made from personal biases. When a Judge gets to that point he can no longer effectively enforce the law. It's time for change, vote for Gary House!

Judge Canaday is out for one person, and thats Russ Canaday. No where would you recieve the treatment you've been given other than his court.

It's high time the voters send a clear message and vote for HOUSE!!

Judges have rules known as Canons they're to abide by and if you look them up on the internet his actions have violated quite a few of them, he's been investigated but all he ends up with is a slap on the wrist and he continues to get away with it. So what's been indicated time and again in this forum is, the only way to make a change is to vote and my vote's for Gary House. I've seen comments about his age and evenutal retirement but the fact of the matter is, even if he's only there a short time before he has to retire manditorily then at least for that short time it's a change. I've seen it noted that he doesn't have experience as a Judge but none of the Judges in there now have had experience as a District Judge until they were elected. If ever there was a time when your vote can count it is now!

My vote is for Judge Canaday. I dont trust this House guy. He has no idea how to be a judge. Some people just dont like Judge Canaday because he either put you in jail or did something you didn't like. Come on! Be a grown up. ARe you kidding me. Yelling at a game and throwing fits are two different things. looks like he has anger issues to me. he has done the same kind of crap in the court room and no i haven't been one of his victims. he is an ego maniac is all he is, that's not a "godly" attitude to have. there is one that is greater than him, ya know? as far as his marriage, that has nothing to do with being a judge. someone could have been married 2 weeks and make a great judge. that is a rediculous statement. he needs to go!! I agree, yelling is one thing but taunting the refs and storming out of your seat is quite different. Some of people on here who are supporting him have likely never seen his actions in the court room and while a person doesn't want to be on the receiving end of it, it is not something you like to see some other person going through either and he feels he can do this because he's the judge. It's my understanding his actions aren't only limited to criminal court but also occur in divorce court and children's court. I urge you all to vote and to vote for House!

An earlier post mentioned the fact that everyone yells at basketball refs, that is true, I have first hand of this because I officiate high school basketball games. I was working a game when Russel was thrown out for not just yelling at a game, but throwing a clip board on to the floor while the game in process. KSHSAA RULE 52. SPORTMANSHIP CODE. He violated that rule, or law that governs KSHSAA Events, then when ask to leave refused made a total ass of himself, hell the Deputy assigned to the game was threatened, by the judge. Now consider this if you stood up in his court room through a fit because of a ruling that he made, what would happen? His authority governs the court room, just as the officals for the KSHSAA authority governs basketball games, whether you agree or not, both still oversee that the rules/laws are obeyed. So when you have a person that is in the public view, and elected by the votes of this district you expect a little more out of them, professionalism. Look at the example he was setting for all the children, is that really someone we want representing us as a Ditrict Judge. I say not, Vote for Mr. House...
