It is interesting that 30 years ago, as a missionary for the LDS Church, I chanced to read a book published by the Church 30 years older than I was at that time. That book described the many migrations from Asia into the Americas and predicted that there was little likelihood of genetic evidence linking Native Americans to the Middle East.

I wonder why old news keeps comming around.

No good thing can come from a lie. Having read the Book of Mormon many times and finding much more truth in it each time I read it, I can say that anyone who "thinks" that it's a fake just hasn't read it the way it was intended to be read, and that is with a sincere heart, with real intent to discover it's truths which must be done sincerely and prayerfully.
Also, a person with Joseph Smith's lack of schooling and his uses OF Hebraic expressions could not have done so at that time so accurately had it not been done through revelation.
To write a book like the Book of Mormon at that time one would have to have had an indepth knowledge of Hebrew, Hebrew poetry (chiasmus)- chiasmus was unknown at the time of Joseph Smith.
A computer analysis of this book shows definite multi authorship, which is exactly what the book claims. Even today, with all our computer experience there is no way anyone could come up with a comparable book without it coming via revelation from God as Joseph Smith claimed.
New evidences of the truth this book are unfolding at a phenomenal rate. The closest thing to it is the Bible, which also is the word of God.

The Book of Mormon is fake. No, it isn't "fake" its authenticity is debated... however your answer needs to come from confirmation of the Holy Ghost, not an evangelical tri-fold or some scientist. There are more evidences every day in support of its authenticity. The discovery of the dead sea scrolls goes along way in that arena, the discovery of a book or "plates" like that of the orrigional discription of the Book of Mormon. plates bound like a book with three rings running through them.

go to the BYU Hawai'i web site to view an article out lining this. www.byuh.edu

Just a hunch here, but my bet is that even if you had been with the original Mormon Saints, you'd still be wifeless living alone in your Mother's basement. It's the rare woman, Mormon or otherwise, that's goes in for assholes. And P.S. Not many men "exscape" from prison by jumping headfirst from a 2nd story window.

Will brag too that I have never been unfaithful...and all that proves is that God did in fact make a woman for each man regaurdless of his stupidity.......I will still challange you and ask to put feelings aside and measure historical facts against your Mormon faith. Satan the brother of Jesus, How God punished those who followed the devil and made them black....etc

I am a convert who is very pleased to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I believe the scriptures. The Old Testament, The New Testament ie: The Holy Bible and Another Testament of Jesus Christ ie: The Book Of Mormon. I know this church to be true. I know the Prophet Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet of Heavenly Father, just like Moses, Adam, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob et al. I know we have a living prophet to this day who is Pres. Hinckley, the president of our church. I believe everyone should be able to worship God as they will, as I will. I know when I first read the Book of Mormon there was no way I couldn't have believed it after 30 years of studying the Hol;y Bible. They were all written by the same Heavenly Father, The Living God Jehovah. I believe Jesus Christ is His son and my savior. I believe in the Holy Spirit. I challenge you if the spirit leads to invite the missionaries into your homes and study with them. I pray I haven't offended anyone.

Dear Member; How could you possible offend anyone? A tender kind heart. Sadly like most, you go by your feelings instead of biblical facts. I don't know a place in the old or new testament that said you can worship God any way you want....In fact the scripture is quite clear on how you are to address him, or pray. With the conclusion of the book of Revelation prophcy was complete. What great prophcy has Mr. H given since? I wonder...would Paul, Abraham, John or Moses been considered a prophet of God had he been jailed for theft then shot in the back breaking out of prison? That Christ is Satan's Brother or that you will be eternally pregnant populating your own worlds because you will be a god is just a little out of line with the Bible........that's why we needed the book of Mormon! Holie Smolie!!!!

Very entertaining issue. you religious fanatics never cease to amaze me. try believing in yourself and just do the right thing in life and stop wasting your time with worshiping false gods and people who happen to be in the right place at the right time. life would be so simple if everyone would just treat each other with respect and kindness and stop all these stupid religious wars. My god is better than yours!, no he's not!, oh yeah well Ill blow you up!, oh yeah then Ill fly a plane into your buildings! and so on.
Its pretty pathetic.

Hey Fed UP.....It's the religion of intolerance that parked planes in buildings to kill innocence. It's the religion of peace that slits throats of those in disagreement of their religion. It is the wolf in sheep clothing that claims their god is the one true god and needs nukes to kill the jews. Our problem is we have become to tolerant. This stuff has got to stop.

I never said the Scriptures said, I thought I was clear in that I believe. I was talking about the reason we live in this country, freedom, freedom of religion, and I would never tell someone else that they were wrong. As far as Paul (who was placed in prison) and all the diciples (sic) they were all martyred for their belief in Christ. After all, with the exception of Paul they all walked with Him. Our prophet Moses had to run and hide in another country because he killed that man. Joseph, and his brother were placed in prison because of their beliefs. If someone was trying to kill me I think I might break out of Liberty jail also, his other brother was murdered trying to get to the prison to save his life. As of Feb. 2005 Joseph and his wife have fifteen- thousand five-hundred and eighty-four decendents. That's alot of relatives for ONE man and ONE woman to have. You never really know who you're speaking to wherever you may be in this world.

Hey Wendy! Yea, the Mormon genology records is second to none in the world. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything if we are all decendents of Adam and Eve but ok. My ONLY request is to look at what ANY religion teaches. If if does not line up with our Christan faith then it is a cult. The devil always mixes half truths with lies and the religion of feel good, sounds good does not mean it's good. Way too many changes and documented changes in the book of Mormon. Aside from Joseph, NO martyr was accused of theft and shot in the back. All the saints were killed for preaching the word of God, not stealing....

The operative word is "accused". What were the Biblical prophets accused of. We obviously don't have all of the details. And when we talk of feeling we are talking about feeling the spirit of God's influence. I think that is the best guidance we can ask for.

Hey Mrs. R...1 John "Test the Spirit" Why the semantic's or play on words? The Martyrs were accused of following and preaching the word of Christ....And they were slayed for that reason alone. Why is this a difficut concept to grasp? Sorry there isn't much wiggle room. Curious......How do you convert a JW who claims there is no Holy Spirit or triune Diety?

You don't convert. The Holy Spirit of our Living God and the person themselves are the only ones who are able to do that. Your misinformation saddens me. I'm a convert and now a member. This is what I believe simply because I've studied and prayed. If one believes the Holy Sprit doesn't have the power to convert. Remember Paul. I'd like to say remember Wendy, yet you have no idea. I came on this forum as member, I'm not ashamed of the gospel. I KNOW it to be true. The church is true.

Thank you Wendy...Well Put. There is no shame in the Gopsel of Christ! No need to be saddened either. Hasn't the Almight the power to change all things? I am challenging you to go beyond what you feel and look at the facts. Just the facts. You will note that prophcy is much needed in the Mormon church for very visable reasons. More and more it attracts men and falls from God. Do your research, don't take my word or your prophets word. Do some digging sis!!
