On a trip to Sayre/Waverly with my mom in the early 60's I was treated to a nice evening at an amusement park. It was Fraley Park. When did it close and where was it? Is there anything left of the place?

I believe Fraley Park was the last business reincarnation effort of Sumner Fraley and his sons Gene and Bus. Originally, Sumner Fraley built and ran a very successful roller skating rink in the early fifties at that location (the big building at the side of the park). My father used to play the organ at the rink. He and his sons also had a travelling roller skating business around the upstate area, and the sons had a country and western band and would hold square dances on a regular basis at the rink. I imagine Sumner and his sons are all deceased by now. Certainly, the sons are retired.

It was destroyed by the 1972 flood (Agnes). Nothing there now that I know of.

Was purchased by Bob hammond . He had a roller skating rink there and square dances for a few years. Then he held auctions .Is nothing there now except leftovers from his moving business. It is located approx. 1 mile up RT 34 North.

I remember going to the auctions there after the park closed. Too bad, I know I met some fine people there.

I remember that park well. My sixth grade class would go there at the end of school. you could get a ten pack of ride tickets for one dollar. they had tilt a whirl, bumper cars, tubs of fun, cars, helicopters, carousel,mini-golf, a fire engine ride, arcade and a small roller coaster which seemed much bigger then. I went back about a year ago to look for memoirs and met the former owner and did a bit of reminiscing. such a better time!

I remember my Mom taking my younger brother & I to Fraley's Park when we were kids in the '60's. We loved it, as we always had a ball there. In fact, when my Mom was a teenager, she used to go roller skating there, & one night managed to whack her elbow on the rink floor, breaking her elbow. The last time I was down there, it was to a flea market in the rink. It was so sad to see all the rides gone. I would've loved to be able to take my grandkids there.

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Leo

If you're worried about running up big debts in what is usually one of the most expensive months of the year, start keeping a running total of how much money you've spent so far. You might have to restrict the amount you spend on Christmas presents, or make other savings in order to stay within your budget, but you realize the folly of ending up severely out of pocket.
