Thatrs right folks who cares. So the Mayor payed for tickets to the world series. the face value of the tickets may I add. Did anyone ever hear it is against the law to sell tickets above 3-5% of the face value. The mayor has done a great job in helping Pittsfield get back on its feet SO leave it alone. Who Cares.

As Harry Truman put it, anybody who needs a code of ethics isn't worth a damn anyway. So what if Ruberto convinces a bunch of political hacks he didn't technically violate any rules? We now know his moral compass isn't what it should be. Every deal he has negotiated, is negotiating or or will negotiate is under a cloud.

As Harry Truman put it, anybody who needs a code of ethics isn't worth a damn anyway. So what if Ruberto is able to convince a bunch of political hacks he violated not rules? The bottom line is every deal he has negotiated, every deal he is negotiating, and every deal he has yet to negotiate is under a cloud.

I agree!!!Who cares,he did PAY face value for the tickets !! |

The mayor did nothing wrong except to give foder to the naysayers that try to keep pits in Pittsfield. He is a forward thinker and all of the whiners are upset becasue he is restoring Pittsfield to glory. THis will leave them with nothing but their own shortsidedness to address.

I care. Please allo me to explain why. I am in the financial services industry. I know this guy in Williamstown that uses certain mutual funds for his clients because they pay him money from the 12b-1 fees. He discloses it in fine print in a 20-page document, so it is legal. But is it ethical? This fellow is making investment decisions based not on what is best for the client, but what is best for his pocketbook. Ruberto is making decisions not on what is best for the citizens of Pittsfield, but what is best for his personal pocketbook. Ruberto put himself ahead of the people he was elected to serve. That is very troubling to me because not onl is it unethical, but it is also illegal. |

Now ask me what the punishment should be... |

If you don't care, you have no ethic center.
If you can't see what is wrong, then you are part of the problem. |

Don't be so jealous of Jimmy. Just cuz he has the power to do whatever he pleases does not necessarily mean it is wrong.
Some people go by their own rules but expect others to abide by the law. SO WHAT! Politicians like Jimmy and George Bush can do whatever they want... so back off buster. If you want to be able to do as you please irregardless of everyone elses rights then you go be mayor. Gerry Doyle did. you need to earn the right to run the city into the ground so stop expecting it to be handed to you. once again LEAVE JIMMY ALONE!!! |

Last time I checked, the City of Pittsfield is receiving the largest sum in the New England Collegiate Baseball League for the Dukes playing in Wahconah Park. So whatever perceived conflict that there is for the Mayor paying face value for a pair of tickets, the bottom line is Pittsfield got a good deal from his negotiations. So perhaps more communities in the league should use Ruberto as model to get more revenue for their city/town.
I'm baffled why my state income tax dollars are being allocated to this State Ethics Commission that is on this ridiculous witch-hunt -- and why is has somehow come to the conclusion that scalping tickets online and elsewhere (which is actually illegal) is a more ethical alternative to buying them a face value. What a waste of tax dollars. |

Because he stands up for his city the mayor is being unfiarly targeted in this witch hunt. Other mayors have been upset because he has been able to secure state money to help jump start some of the outstanding projects he has been intrumental in developing for the city.

Witch hunt, my butt. He broke the rules. And even if there were no rules broken, while in negotiations Duquette never should have offered the tickets and Ruberto never should have accepted them at below market price. In addition to being unethical, it was a beyond stupid stunt. Ruberto could quietly pay the measly little fine and be done with it, but no, he's got to hire Lenny Cohen an make a big deal about it. Stupid. I'd say retarded, but that would be an insult to the people with a legitimate excuse for doing stupid stuff. |

when someone at city hall breaks one of Jimmys rules he makes them pay
what goes around should come around if you play God you might get crucified |

FROM AMERICAN HERITAGE DICTIONARY: payed 1 ( p³d) v. 1. A past tense and a past participle of pay 1 . payed 2 ( p³d) v. Nautical 1. A past tense and a past participle of pay 2 . GUESS YOU'RE SO FORWARD LOOKING YOU WENT FULL CIRCLE AND ARE LOOKING AT LAST NITE'S DINNER. |

Ruberto is wrong. Period. End of story. If you're conducting negotiations as the mayor of a municipality, you shouldn't be buying tickets from the party your in negotiations with. It is a conflict plain and simple. It is unethical. But Ruberto has no ethics; no morals; just ask any city employee the way they're treated by him. He'll get his.

Eric (Biss, probably) has never even approached an ethical misstep, I'm sure. Wink.
