Those things are a huge problem. They are HUGE, and in some areas they have gotten so bad they are not only tearing up crops, they are getting brave to the point of charging at people who happen to cross their paths in the woods.

They are not porkers like you imagine on a farm... they are wild animals, with huge tusks, that outweigh people by hundreds of pounds and can be ferocious.

Hunting them from the air may seem unsportsmanlike, but this is not a matter of sport hunting. In the absence of natural predators, something has to be done to reduce the numbers of these beasts or people will definitely be in danger just walking outside their yards in rural areas.

The problem with this type of hunt and other mass killing of animals, is that they are left where they fall. There is no clean up and disposal. They are left there for other wild animals to clean up.

So what's the problem with that? They have to be controlled so let nature take it's roll. The coyotes will be happy!!!!!!!

We go hog hunting all the time on our ranch in southern oklahoma. I have a couple of hundred pounds in the freezer right now. You had better watch your butt when hunting them because they can hurt ya!!!

Hogs from a helicopter! Isn't that kind of like shooting fish in a barrel? Seriously, it sounds kind of like an unfair advantage but those things really are mean and nasty and do tons of damage. They tear up everything in their path.

I was wondering if this would allow the use of Powered Parachutes as weel. They only go app. 30 mph. & are well suited for this.

OK, explain what a powered parachute is. Sounds like it might be kinda cool and with the name Flying Bob, you sound like you know a lot about it. Is it kind of like hang gliding or parasailing?

How about having organized "Hog Hunts". You could charge a minimal fee, and the meat could be donated to feed the homeless. Hog meat is very good (even the big boars) if prepared properly.

It's just what the name implies: a motor and wheels suspended by a parachute.

Do you start in a plane like regular parachuting or do they have enough power to go airborne on their own? Sounds way fun. You know where you can get lessons? Sorry for all the questions but it sounds intriguing.

The problem with that is the coyotes. If the hogs are shot near farms and human populations then you are drawing those predators towards the farms and humans that in normal circumstances would probably keep their distance. A hungry coyote will brave anything with a rotting corpse dangling in its face. THINK ABOUT IT! Then people will complain about the coyotes and start killing them. It is all just a very vicious cycle.

And why not recover the hog and feed the homeless or a family that might not be able to afford it. Why let it go to waste? It just does not make sense. A REAL hunter would understand what I am saying.

You can't do it. They won't let deer meat be donated to the homeless... there is no way they are going to let the hogs be donated. The law regulates food donations, such that meat has to come from a USDA inspected farm and facility. There were news stories last year about deer hunters being upset that they could no longer donate extra meat to the homeless because it was deemed "unsafe".
